The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has made it mandatory for all its citizens travelling to Saudi Arabia on the Hajj pilgrimage to be vaccinated against the swine flu. The UAE Ministry of Health set up 30 medical centers in the Northern Emirates and four in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, including one at the international airport.
Saudi Arabia has not made it mandatory for pilgrims to be vaccinated against the swine flu. Saudi authorities expect around three million foreign pilgrims an additional one million domestic travelers to visit Mecca in late November. They are taking precautionary measures: establishing isolation centers, organizing drugs and vaccines, arranging cars to transport infected patients, allocating doctors and nurses.
Pilgrims will also be provided bags containing disinfectants, medicines and guidelines for disease prevention
