There are 150,000 Iraqis (120k in London alone) who have been given the right to vote in a country that most have no current experience of or ever intend of returning to and considering the likelihood of a very poor turnout by resident Iraqis these UK Iraqis will make a large impact on election results. Why should these people be allowed to determine who is elected in Iraq?
my theory is that theHOME OFFICEis intending to repatriate them- and will use their enrolment as a) a useful way to track down any living here and b) as an excuse to send them back- 'You wnated the government, now go and live under it'.
