In an outspoken attack on Gypsies today, Michael Howard will insist they are 'getting away' with wrongdoing, as the Conservatives move to exploit rural anger over illegal encampments.

Hmmm, I wld advice all Black British born citizens to turn out and use their vote very very wisely! Dont sit down at home and say politics does not concern me, before you know it, you're worse off. I read another article in the online mirror about another frontbench conservative MP's remarks. Go and read it.

If he plans to repeal the HRA, what next?
The Minimum Wage Act? The Freedom of Information Act? Food Safety Acts?
Extended Paid Maternity Paternity Leave?
Just remember when you vote. One of Howard's bright stars has just stood down opposite TB in Sedgefield saying the Tories' hidden agenda is sinister. Letwin said that 250,000 Civil Servants' jobs will be axed, rather than 10,000.
No-one cares about travellers' rights this time, they don't have a vote.

"In March 2000 Mr Howarth (notHoward)called for the scrapping of all race relations legislation.
Later that year he also slammed a compensation payment to the family of Stephen Lawrence."
This is just some extracts of the article in the mirror. I dont want to hijack your post bro but the conservative party aint for minorities, the economy is running well and unemployment is at an all time low, why change it?
Its also disgusting that Micheal Howard is the son of an immigrant who fled the Holocaust (sp) and he's compaining about immigration. Illegal immigrants are not good but these fools want to twist it so as to even stop innocent ones coming in.

It seems that Howard's election strategy is to present himself as right-wing on a range of tabloidy social issues and centrist on the economy. That seems a bit miscalculated, since the Tories need the Labour vote to stay at home. I know a lot of disaffected-with-Blair Labour voters who have rediscovered their justification for voting Labour: Howard's recent nasty, bigoted little pronouncements on this type of issue, as well as the HRA, immigrants etc.
