A very good question, the Us government are doing what they always do putting their interests first. I'm waiting for Condi Rice to give another of her "lectures" on democracy this time to President Islam Karimov, I thinkit's gonna be a long wait.

Thanx for the NGO links

give it some time, soon bush will be making a statement on it and somehow make a connection with terrorism. He can smell oil from miles away.

Maybe for same reason America supported Britain when it held most of Africa and India under colonial power.

Why to nations do this? Simple:to support interests favourable to your own directly or indirectly. Besides you and our Hate America crowd seem to ignore the articles you post and read your own spin in it. Does this statement "In the US, White House spokesman Scott McClellan called for both sides to show restraint," say or indicate to any objective person that the US supports this crackdown? No only to the closed minded haters.

That's not condemnation, how can protesters show "restraint" if they're been shot? not bleed too heavyly on the streets? How comes it's not secretary of state Condi Rice making a statement about this issue?

Apparently you don't read well. Simply put:if both sides show restraint (both meaning the aggressor and victim) how can it be said theits the aggressor being supported?
