The government's tax credit system is subject to "completely unacceptable" errors, Citizens Advice (CAB) has said.
A third of recipient families have been overpaid - and many forced into poverty when HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) takes back overpayments, the charity said.

It's an absolute disgrace.
I read that 630,000 were overpaid by £1,000+, while 40,000 were overpaid by £4,000+!
WTF?
I am not surprised. I stopped claiming when I married, and even today I got another claim form, whilst last week I received 6 letters telling me that I'm not due anything.... .
And I wouldn't try to call them either.
It's a good idea but in practice it's an absolute shambles. I can't believe that in 2005 people are still being pushed below the poverty line, especially by this Government.
Going the same way as the CSA.....

can't really see how NewLab are going to get out of this mess:
6 million screwed up tax credit claims...
Write off the money and admit to loosing public money - or try and reclaim it from the poor and appear to be mean *******s.

I have problems with you "artists" desecrating my wall....
Don't you people realise the destruction you cause? I have spent pounds on repainting the wall, only for you delinquents to come and ruin it.
Don't you have any respect for people's homes that they have worked hard for??
No, you don't.
Dyam fool.

Here's part of a form:
Child Tax Credit
"The full amount for the period is = £ A
Amount you owe us that will be collected from future years = £ B
Less amount we have already paid you for this period = £ C
Amount to be paid = £ D"
So - how is D calculated ?
and if D is a positive figure does that mean that they owe you, or that you owe them ?
