Great speech, passionately delivered, and what most Londoners would have wanted to hear. This is the man they voted for, after all – even when TONI BLIAR warned of pillars of fire and plagues of locusts if he got in. Yet all we get is TB's ponderous sermon endlessly repeated so that he gets covered in the glory of London's 'defiance'.
What is the news agenda here?

Lee Jasper and Ken Livingstone welcomed this man to London in July 2004. Here he is in his own words on the subject of suicide bombings, speaking on Newsnight, on BBC National television on 7 July 2004:

Why did Livingstone and Jasper welcome Sheikh Yusef al-Qaradawi to London, but ban Professor Tony Martin from speaking at a Black History Conference 10 months earlier?

coltrane: i'm going to agree with MGL, and say it would be a cold day in someone's hell before i'd EVER vote for this two faced, lair ever ever again... Ken Livingston is only interested in one thing KEN Livingston...
Black people were fools to vote for him last time and completely mad if they ever vote for him again..sorry but he is NOT a friend of the BLACK man or Woman in this country...

Fair is Fair Kunjufu. Livingstone may have his own agenda like Geldof, but hadn't it been for him, the size of the black middle class in London would have been laughably small. Ken Livingstonalmost singlehandedly createdthe black middle class.

Did they speak up against STOP & Search, did they speak up about the introduction of visa's for all Jamaican citizens, did they speak up against ID cards, increased council tax, the war in Iraq, killing Jamaicans and Black Britons alike... Did they campaign to get better Schools for our children or did they just send their children to fee paying white schools, did they argue against the congestion charge aka poor perople exclusion road tax..
did these 'middle class' wannabee's even organise for AFRICA, or did they leave it to BOB Geldof?
Come on Jazztaking, not wishing to be rude but what why would i be grateful to Ken Livingston for?
