Waxploitation Inc. will launch its second online auction tomorrow featuring rare autographed items from OutKast, Eminem, Kanye West, and Nelly. The auction's proceeds will assist genocide victims in Sudan, Africa.
Over 100 items will be auctioned on eBay on July 12th. The items were donated by celebrities like Eminem, Kanye West and Nelly as well as David Banner, The Beastie Boys, Prince, John Legend, Ciara, Serena Williams, The Nappy Roots, Atmosphere, Sage Francis, Shepherd Fairey (OBEY), Bam Margera, and Angelina Jolie, among many others.

It is estimated that in Sudan about 400,000 people have been murdered and over 2 million have been displaced from their homes by Sudanese-backed militias called the Janjaweed. The genocide is occurring in the Dafur region of Africa as a way to rid the area of its non-Arab inhabitants. The BBC reports that "human rights groups say there has been a systematic campaign of rape, intended to humiliate and punish non-Arab groups...they have killed, raped, maimed, looted and burned down tens of thousands of village homes, displacing hundreds of thousands of people."
"We've learned a lot since our auction earlier this year," says Jeff Antebi, founder and creative director of Waxploitation. "This time, we are working towards not just raising money for relief organizations, but also putting together a nationwide petition demanding that the Senate and White House take definitive action against the Sudanese government. It seems like every time there's a moment for this horror to finally be addressed, something overshadows it in the news media. So we're going to shake the trees ourselves and create a way for people to take real action."
Waxploitation released a CD, titled Genocide In Sudan, earlier this year with featured cuts from Jurassic 5, Gorillaz, Danger Mouse & Murs, and Jill Scott, among others. Proceeds from the CD sales and the first Sudan auction amount to over $10,000. The money was donated to UNICEF and UN Refugee Agency relief efforts in Sudan.
Waxploitation was founded 10 years ago as a record and management company for off –the-cuff artists. It is home to such artists as Danger Mouse and his upcoming collaborations with both Cee-Lo (Gnarls Barkley) and MF Doom (Danger Doom). In the past it has also been home to such acts artists as Madlib, Matt Dike of The Dust Brothers (Paul's Boutique), and The Digable Planets' King Britt.
Look for Waxploitation's 2[sup]nd[/sup] Sudan Charity auction tomorrow on eBay.com.
