AU Ponders Free Movement for African Citizens

THE African Union (AU) is pondering the possibility of African citizens to move freely around the continent as it pursues the idea of issuing what it calls an African passport to all African citizens.

This was highlighted by AU Commission chairperson Alpha Konare during his official statement at the opening of this year's heads of state assembly here.

The proposal is also contained in the draft report which was expected to be endorsed by African leaders by yesterday.

The draft recommendations call upon AU member states to facilitate and pursue free movement in Africa gradually considering the interdependence of social, economic, security and human rights dimensions of the movement of persons within the African Union.

The Executive Council of ministers is thus urging member states to ensure that the process of facilitating free movement must be implemented at bilateral, sub-regional and regional levels, from which an Africa wide framework would be developed.

The AU states that it accepts the concept of an African passport in principle and therefore recommends that further consultations be carried out at national, sub-regional, regional and continental levels to address all pertinent issues including constitutional, legal, social, economic, security and human rights aspects.

The AU is also in agreement with the proposal for the issuance of an African diplomatic passport and recommends that consultations should be done before the exercise is undertaken.

The AU Commission has since been requested in consultation with member states to consider establishing a committee of experts, charged with providing guidance to the Commission on matters relating to free movement of persons to carry the process forward.

I'm all for one African passport. I wonder how they will tackle the possibility of people from 'problem' countries flooding into stable countries.

I hope they find a way around it to please and help everybody...but its a damn good idea.

and with regards of migration of poor to rich countries..............well if we look at the europe their is poor countries and rich countries............the poor immigrants provide a vital service in regards jobs.

the thing is alot of western countries are realising the wealth of Africa.......and their biggest nightmares is Allied Africa.............because they know an Allied Africa+resoucres =power

we also need to expel ALL europeans, americans who are raping our resources................if they work we need to give them a temp stay.

then I can assure more and more displaced Africans will return............it is just now westerns have succeded in making us scared of Africa.

instead of all of us siting idle in UK, we need to gain knowledge through education and work experience and transfer that experience to Africa

most importantly we need to LEARN FROM OUR MISTAKES...............and never ever work with Americans, British etc...................

let me justeducate u onwhy the somalis whom had been killing each other for 5 years, decided to join one and other and KICK WHITEYS ASS OUT. ever since the late 70's/early 80's, the US was the main supplier of militairy aid to somalia's UNELECTED DICTATOR SAID BARRE whom throughout the years had a genocidal policy against his own people whichwas the sole reason why there was a civil war and so bloody at that. Over the years the US had supplied well over a Billion in militairy aid alone, not includingall the other, hundreds of millions, billions that were provided for other means, never the less was spent on ARMS.The thing that somalia had plentifull of was ARMS, mainly US arms.that were then used to suppress, kill, torture and rape the somali masses. When every well known human rights oranisation was publicing countless reports, articles etc about the genocidal practises that were taking place and that a war was most likely to be on of the bloodiest that wouldhappen. When thedictator and regime, supported by AMERICA was labeled ''ONE of the worst ever seen''. WERE THE **** WAS AMERICA THEN?what happened to DEMOCRACY, FREEDOM, and HUMAN RIGHTS that America loves to rave on about. No,in this casetheUS would say, '' SAID BARREmight be a son of a bitch, but he is OUR son of a bitch''. So the somali masses already saw the hypocracy at its worst, why come now to save them, when hell had already started, why not all those years back when they were supporting and supplying a REGIME that was deadly to its own people which the US already knew. And 1987 when tensions between resistance movements and the regime was at an all time high, just a few months prior to the start of the war, the US almost DOUBLED the military aid for that year. So, we knew that the US never cared about somalis, so why now?

It couldnt have anything to do with the fact that in 1986, after a 3 year study, nearly two-thirds of Somalia was allocated to the American oil giants Conoco, Amoco, Chevron and Phillips in the final years before Somalia's pro-U.S. President Mohamed Siad Barre was overthrown and the nation plunged into chaos in January, 1991. The contracts were long signed and the drilling was about to start. Ask any somali from north/ central somalia and they will tell you how more and more major drilling equipment was entering the country. No, of course not, cause we all know that the US IS NOT OIL HUNGRY!! The thing that just left the somalis amazed was, that whenanarchy in MOGADISHU started, all foreign, embassey's, companies, people, including the SOMALIS themselves left in great hurry, except for Conoco Inc., the only major multinational corporation to mantain a functioning office in Mogadishu throughout the past two years of nationwide anarchy. Ok, so while everyone else was running for their ass, Conoco, obviously didnt feel threatened and thought let me stay put. Now what makes this even more bizzare is that everyone started to leave the city, around 1990, 1991. And suprise, suprise what do you know AMERICA tells the world in 1992we are going in to somalia, coincidene, yearight. ''RESTORE HOPE''= "RESTORE AND SECURE OUR BELOVED OIL CONTRACTS''. Everyone knows the US is controlled by multinationals and OILCOMPANIES. So excuse the somaliswhom saw straight through this little plan. AMERICA wasthere tohelp instore a government, whom would agree tothe OIL deals already made. You see what also raises questions is thatthe majority ofthe starving were in places like Beledweyne and its surroundings,which is north of mogadishu.Eventhe GENIUNE humanitarians didnt understand why mostpeacekeeping forces werent stationed in the deserst, were the starving was at it worst, no they wanna stay put in the capital. When the ethiopians were starving in 1984 did the food supply go to ADDIS, no, it went to thehighlands were the majority of the needy were.

All of this said. lets not forget the inhumanne treatment that some of theso called SAVIOURS were executing in somalia. A boywas burned horiffically by canadians, Italians were raping women and of course lets not forget the americans whom would just beat every boy/man for fun, especially the BLACK AMERICANS whom just had to prove their AMERICANESS to the whiteys. No, the somalis were just angry for no reason, plz. AFTER the DEFEAT OF AMERICA it is very ironic, an American military aircraft transported Aideed
to Ethiopia in December, 1993 to attend a U.N. sponsored peace conference. (The very man they were after, and this was after the 18 dogs got killed and dragged through the city!!!Ha, somalis seriously hadthose bitches on a lock).Where the etiopian prime minister had a little party for him and also said that the SOMALI PEOPLE WERE RIGHT, in doing what they did and hailed them as TRUE AFRICANS. Us somalis only did what we thought was right we are fiercely proud and we dont like whitey or anyone else for that matter interfering in our affairs. Before the US decided to come in and behave like cowboys they should have listened to a few things an British man said after studying the somalis: ''THE SOMALI IS AS HARSH AS HIS COUNTRY AND JUST DOESNT FORGIVE'', ''THE SOMALI CAN EASILY TURN INTO A KILLER IF HE WISHES OR REQUIRES TO''. NOT one somali ever asked the US for there ''HELP'', we dont beg like that. and as for those people wanting to call us arab lovers, in somalia arabs are known as HIMARS and CASIIRS, the latter dissing the femininaty of arab men. on top of that 2 arabs were killed during the intervention of somalia and 24 muslim pakis whom dont forget the US was acting superior to, then embarrisingly had to ask for help, HA HA, were slaughtered. and not to forget the man farrah aideed, being blamed for all the problems just made the somalis laugh, cause we knew that there were other ''warlords'',just as bad as him, but they were never mentioned, probably cause he controlled most of mogadishu and wasnt going to go along with their plans. This same man told the arabs that the somali people NEVER HAD A SAY in entering the arab league, the US SUPPORTED regime did, thus he said the somalis didnt want to be a part of the arab world, there affairs where in africa. Of course the arab HIMAARS, start dismising this and saying that his words were hurtfull and that somalia belonged there. So dont get it twisted, ARAB NATIONS WANT AND NEED US, ya understand!!

At the end of the day all we somalis know is that whitey whom has got an appalling policy towards blacks in their owncountry and against muslims in general, had its own agenda, which had nothing to do with saving or feeding anyone, plz. For all of u that dont understand, we somalis would rather all dissapear from the face of this earth, no better yet our whole country and people would like to dissapear, if it means that we DONT become a nation created by america in its new world order. We dont bow down to no man . and the only thing that we were concerned about is that those 1000 somalis (2/3 of whom were woman and children due to cowboy shooting policies) didnt die in vain. and they didnt cause we DEFEATED the whiteys.

Im now going to watch my tape with dogs being dragged through the streets of mogadishu,always puts a smile on my face.
