whenever there are episodes in western countries that raise the level of discontent among darker skinned (African) popultions, to the extent people start entertaining ideas of repartriating, the media bombards us with images of crisis, usually starvation in Africa. almost always, the crisis depicted has been an ongoing situation that's largely been ignored. this isn't paranoia or cynicism on my part. i have observed this for some time.
i do not want to belittle any efforts by individual western nations to provide relief, but then the gigantic British effort in Niger seems kind of timed, no? what with events in London that have left many Africans, especially muslims, thinking ofa place under the sun they could call their own.
all they are doing is trying to discourage Africans from speculating on a viable existence in the motherland. the effect is to leave the African abroad in a state of limbo, between a rock and a hard place. you know there is a campagn being waged agaist you here, but you cannot entertain ideas of escape because the negative images foretella worsefate in the motherland.
