I have heard that view before. Lincoln certainly was a politician.

I am not concerned if heused the word n*igger in the 1860's although you will never find it in any written record or letter of his.

You should read his actual, diaries, writings and memoirs on the subject. What he actually thought about slavery and blacks.

The proof is in the pudding, as they say, blacks were freed and they were not deported to africa. I think Martin Luther King's take on Llincoln is correct.
