New Orleans was a city unto herself, in a country that was not. America is a sea of conformity in one way or another. If you have seen one downtown you have seen another. If you have seen one ghetto in America you have seen them all. America has few unusal cities, and now it has one less. New Orleans was founded by Spain and sold to the French last to the Americans. She grew with a mixture of African, West Indian, French flavor that is only New Orleans. Voodoo was brought to the states from Hatiti and made famous by Mdme La Va'davu one of the most famous Black women of her time. Creoles and Cajunsare unique to her as well along with their cooking. New Orleans had a African flavor that was like no other. Jazz was born in New Orlean, it is the home of Louis Armstrong, and to many to count. I weep in my heart because ole New Orleans will never be the same.
