Coltrane,
Call me crazy, but do you ever notice when Bush pick people, he always get people he knows?! I mean he never get a stranger, look at their credentials and say he/she is qualified for the job. I was looking at the news where there were a couple fo memebers of the Supreme Court who weren't judges, but were effective in being good supreme court representatives. Bush, on the other hand, is a guy we allhave to beworry about. He is impatient and do think before acting and mostly he just choose people out of the blue or from his inner circle and I don't think that is right! There a lot of people who think Bush has made a mistake in his choice. Well with him he has made many mistakes, that should be nothing new with the American Public.
I've never agreed with Republicans and especially Republicans of color. At one point it was said that Larry Thompson( a Black Republican lawyer/lawmaker) and Alberto Gonzalez( a Latino Republican on Bush's cabinet). I'm not biased when it comes to the better person being in the S.C. I really thought that he was going to pick Alberto because he knows hin just as much as her.I'm not for the Republican party, but I would have picked him because he doesn't have some libreal tendencies about him. He favors Affirmative Action, he have certain liberal viewson abortion rights. If you ask me I thought that Alberto Gonzalez would have been the Sandra Day O'Connor regardless of him being a man. I don't much about Larry Thompson so I cannot comment about him.
In all honesty, I thought that choosing Harriet Miers was a swift and easy choice for him because 1) She may be his token to Sandra 2)Gonzalez and Thompson are men of color. There is already one Black person of color on the court and I don't think that he doesn't want a second person of color being up there. With Harriet being White, she was a shoo-in 3)He rushes things so why not get the nearest thing near you?Look at all the people he has picked. They have either left him or they end up helping him create world disasters like he did with New Orleans. They way Bush pick people I really believe that even the greatest moron can run our government.

Honestly I am a tad sick of lawyers and judges all together, i think they have imo destroyed the American legal system. I would like to think that it doesnt matter if a judge is liberal or conservative, that the judge would simply apply law as it is, not as the judge wants it to be.
The only issue I have with conservatives is that they typically fear questioning their leaders and simply march in line ... case in point would be Bush.

I agree. It doesn't matter if you have a great track record with the American people as long as you are in the 'NETWORK' of Bush you can get into a position without tapdancing like the rest of us. Bush made the choice and this history when its said and done will not be kind to him or his administration. I am not saying Bush ignores the American people but his decision do reflect on his personality agenda and history since he became president. I have not seen him do otherwise like go away from what he wants to what perhaps the American people wants alot of the time but I could always be missing the blanks or wrong.
The American justice system itself has not been publicly exposed to the American public in great detail by our government in how it conducts business with the law of the land. Decision are made but they do not necessary follow properly afterwards.

Defyfear,
If that was any president, I would overlook it, but not only is one our dumbest prez's in history, but he has proven himself to be just that. He scares me because he had made some boneheaded decisions that have costed us a whole lot, that has costed us allies and everything else. He is a dangerous man in terms of his lop-sided mind.
