Mez: I am not the greatest fan of church, but if it had not been for one of the churches back home in Ghana, there was no way of my cousin who had a heart defect would have been able to get her operation... the cost for sugery team was 10,000 Euros which the local church raised themselves...

Free, i am glad that your cousin is alive and well sis, but one life saved cannot be a reason for this institution to exist in Africa in its present form. For one life saved, there are millions of Africans who are being brainwashed and striped of their natural beliefs in the name of this barbaric religion. You might think the use of "barbaric" is a bit too much, but take a walk in most African cities and you'll see how its turning us into useless zombies who do nothing about our condition except to wait for a heaven under a blue eyed and blond haired man called Jesus.

offtopic.gif Mez, you can't paint everything that claims Christian with the same brush, same as you can't say every muslim is a terrorist. The story of the messiah was in Africa long before the Europeans reach(and not just Ethiopia, among the Yoruba and in western Soudan)

This is not surprising really!
I remember when I first saw Miss Menka Donyor representing Miss Ghana. I knew Instantly she wasn't a Pure Ghanian!
Ghana
black African 98.5% (major tribes: Akan 44%, Moshi-Dagomba 16%, Ewe 13%, Ga 8%, Gurma 3%, Yoruba 1%), European and other 1.5% (1998
______________________
I found this girl interesting being from almost 99% Black African country.
Anyway, from what I've been hearing many African men have been bringing home foriegn brides (mostly WHITE ones) and raising them in Africa!
I'm sure it was only a matter of time before one of them became a Queen:P

My PIONT was that African men marry and bring home European womenquite often in Africa! This one woman just happened to become "royality".
This former Ms. Ghana simply symbolizes interracial marriages IN Africa. Just like Thandie Newton and Boris Kojoe(sp) do.
The girl posted isobviously Mixed raced, I don't care how much bullshit you give me about Ghanians coming in all "Hues".
This is like the equivalent of me showing pictures of Heather Locklear, Eva Longeria, and Lucy Lu saying "American women come in all hues". No duh!

It is a shame that some people who like to show there intellect about a number of African issues on this Internet forum and are generally have incisive and intelligent views. Can be so quick to cast judgment, generalizeand criticize fellow Africans and then assume this is indicative of my motherland, Ghana. I will just assume it to be simple ignorance by those few who do not know better. I willhopefully assist those who only see through European eyes, propagandaand thinking.
There are many titles that people of standing can acquire in different tribes in Ghana, amongst them is a title of 'chief' of whom there are many different levels of power. A chief can be given to someone as a badge of honour or to show that person has done something which is honorable towards the village/people/tribe.This is similar to the ceremonial and symbolic title of mayor in England, a mayor in England is usually a councillor or a person of standing who is honuored as a good citizen. Ceremonial mayor is not thelaw maker, law setter and by no way the most important person in a town in England. This is the same in many Ghanaian villages and regions. There are many mayors inEngland who are not English or even anglo-saxons (FACT) and nobody in the town knows who they are or in fact cares.
I'm of Akan/Asante heritage and the person, I know that the King, the main power, the heir apparent to the Golden stool and chief of chiefs is the Asantehene, currently Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. This position is selected, yes, that is right selected by the kingmakers of the royal court and the Asantehene will belong and come from to the royal clan from Kumasi made up of several and many families. Asantehene does not generally follow father/mother to son/daughter like the Britsh Royal Family. If this lady was titled with henemaa (Queenmother) then your critical opinions would be justified. But she is not and I don't honestly think any people of a tribe would stand for this, just like the British standing for a black African British prime minster.
Anyway back to the point, realize the people of this village in given this european lady this title are honouring her and more then likely inviting others to follow her generosity. They are far from stupid.
@Mezmerized- LOL...i don't know why some of you are so shocked..confused3
Ghana has been declining in its Pan Africanism ideal ever since Nkrumah of all people married a bloody Arab woman and talked of raceless Africa
Its proof of how QUICK we black people are to forget any wrong doing by others......
Is it? Ghana declining in its pan-African ideal, yeah, really! Sister Mezmerized, Ghana is at the forefront of Ecowas with fellow West African countries. The Great Kwame Nkrumah was being symbolic when he married his Egyptian wife. You never heard of King Solomon and his many wives? Do not let mischevious euopean propaganda about american/ghanian singers or other crap make you think otherwise and disunite people like us.
If you don\'t question...how would you learn?

By the way, many of you dissappoint me with your ignorance...
@ Cell: yeah i heard from some place
that a white person is/was the chief of the ewe(?sp) tribe in ghana
A wise old Ghanian saying for you - You foolish small boy. Nonsense.
If you don\'t question...how would you learn?
