War crimes police tracked Maxwell




Maxwell's body was found in the AtlanticMedia tycoon Robert Maxwell was under investigation for alleged war crimes at the time of his death, it has emerged.


Detectives were considering Maxwell's admission that while serving as a British Army captain in World War II he shot dead a German civilian.


Maxwell drowned in mysterious circumstances in 1991. It later emerged he had looted an estimated £400m from the Mirror Group pension fund.
The latest investigation is detailed in documents obtained by the Independent.
A Metropolitan Police file was released to the paper under the Freedom of Information Act.

Read the Article cannot see what the problem was. It's all very well for the 21st Century police to make accusations about "War Crimes" out of context of the times.

The First Americans who liberated some of the Concentration camps were so appalled at what they saw the lined up the Camp Guards and shot them on the spot? That's a War Crime. So what?

Robert Maxwell was a crook but he was aided and abetted by the Financial Establishment.

I'd be more interested if this was about Mark Thatcher style war crimes. Things Maxwell did in later life when he was running his media thing. Not as an annonymus soldier in a big messy war.
