Boxer could face jail after crash
Naseem Hamed arriving at Sheffield Crown Court
Former boxing champion Naseem Hamed has been told he could be jailed after he pleaded guilty to dangerous driving following a crash in his sports car.
The 31-year-old, from Dore in Sheffield, was bailed by a judge at Sheffield Crown Court, who told him it was possible he would go to prison.
The three-car collision on 2 May 2005 at Ringinglow Road, Sheffield, involved Hamed's £300,000 McLaren-Mercedes. One man was seriously injured in the accident.
Broken bones
The Recorder of Sheffield, Judge Alan Goldsack, adjourned the case until 12 May to allow pre-sentence reports to be prepared.
He gave the former world featherweight champion an interim driving ban and told him: "Do not take bail as any indication that you will receive anything other than a custodial sentence." Previous hearings have been told how an occupant of one of the cars involved in the crash was in hospital for weeks after breaking several bones.
The court heard how the man, who has attended a number of previous hearings, was unable to come to court on Friday because he was in hospital for further treatment.

Pro sportsmen especially boxers consume a large amount of food to fuel the intense training they do. Once they stop training and burning that fat they are left with the appetite built up through years of habit. They eat the same but don't burn.

Some keep up the training or cut down the food or are lucky enough to have genes which sustain them... Naseem obviously didn't. Remember Diego Maradonna a few years ago? Tyson before the Lewis fight? The governator before T3? All stopped training and blew up like a helium baloon.
