good topic by the way, i think there needs to be a big crack down on illigal immigration from mexico, they are taking jobs away from black people because theyre prepared to work for lower wages. there is also huge tensions in LA because of these illegals taking over aswell. constant black v hispanic gangwars on the streets and in the prisons, and its us whos losing out.

Lady Aleisha...Two points..
One isn't it double standards for any AFRICAN to complain about Immigration when we benefited from Economic immigration back in the day..?.
Two..isn't also true that many African americans, don't want the jobs that Illegalsare willing todothese days?
This is open to you or any other African in America

your right about the first point.
but i have family in those areas, longh beach to be precise, and the african americans DO want those jobs, but who are the employers gonna employ, someone who is prepared to work for $5 an hour, or someone who won't accept a penny less then $8 an hour. they will make a bigger profit if they employ the mexicans.so many african americans because these mexicans.
these mexicans remind me of the asians over here, they have little respect for us. but love our culture

The issue is american double-standard. One the one hand american economy has grown dependen on cheap labor of illegal immigrants. On the other hand they are illegal, underpayed and have a host of priviledges denied.
The problem was created by americans, not illegal immigrants.

First, at the time of Columbus, there were approximately 1.8 million American Indians on the continent of what is now the USA. Today there are approximately 4 million American Indians in a country of almost 300 million people.
The Americans to their credit for the last 50 to 100 years have been trying to do right by the American Indian where other countries like Vietnam and Mexico simply steamroll over tribal and native people. Many American Indians today are some of the wealthiest people in America thanks to generous laws which have enabled them to run businesses without having regulations that would affect everyone else. I am not saying that what happened to some American Indians was good but it is too often used as an excuse to why Americans should not be able to control their destiny. I don't buy intothis arguement.
The problem with illegal immigration as opposed to legal immigration is that the businessmen and industrialists are doing the same thing to these people as they did with the irish immigrants and other immigrant groups – they are using them for cheap labor and to undercut the progress that has been made by unions for workers. There is little regard for the impact of all this cheap labor on the societies healthcare, educational, or housing systems. The growing divide between the have and have nots is a very serious problem now in the united states with a growing poor and permanent underclass where there was not one before.
Many blacks have been hardest hit by the massive influx of cheap labor, skyrocketing housing prices, and strains on the healthcare and educational system. 25 years ago in the southern California area even a janitor could make enough money to afford a decent house and a car etc. etc. Now that is no longer the case.
It is not that we Americans are against immigrants. What we don’t want is to undercut all of the progress we have made for workers and worker rights decent housing, healthcare and education. Blacks especially have fought hard for these things and we do not want to see them eroded by foolish immigration policies and massive influx of cheap labor. What we want are sound immigration policies which protect the things that many of us have fought for, and some of us have died for.
What we need is a certain amount of legal immigration which we can absorb without damagingour standard of living or our wages. The businesmen and the industrialists want the opposite - which ought to tell you where your sympathies should lie. As usual, they are putting short term profits ahead of the interests of the health and stability of the society, and the well being of its people.

Actually Burning Spear...for what its worth I'd disagree with Coltrane on this..this is NOT an American problem..it's a worldwide problem....that includes the UK..so its a bit unfair to single out the American contingent for criticism on this issue...

- The greatest threat to US national sovereignty is not the Mexican but the capitalist and globalization. In truth, the US has already lost much of its sovereignty and will only continue to lose more. The question is to who? With globalization comes the weakening of the nation state, this is inevitable. With the weakening of the nation state comes the weakening of the citizen (in a capitalist system), this is inevitable. The American is becoming irrelevant is US politics, this is inevitable.
- Americans are simply ignorant to many things. Most likelythey will blame illegal immigrants for xyz but in the end it is their own fault for being a nation of weak citizens, corrupt politicians and for simply being found, wanting

Illegal immigrants especially thosefrom Mexico are taking away jobs from African Americans and legal immigrants. I will guarantee you that if Mexico was a country occupied by Africans or if you move the entire population of Mexico to Haiti and you move the Haitians to Mexico and then have Haitians coming through the border, the American government will enact a 450 ft tall wall from California to Texas with landmines on both sides. That is why we see Haitian immigrants turned away and Cubans allowed to stay, which is pure white racism.
The spanish illegal immigrants are refusing to learn English and insist on everybody else to use Spanish. They will do any job for minimum wage causing greedy employers to prefer them over African Americans and other legal immigrants. The race relations between Blacks and | |
