DELAND, Fla. -- A Central Florida convenience store worker who was charged for urinating into a soda bottle, causing a customer who drank from it to become violently ill, was sentenced to six months in jail.
Anthony Mesa was working at a Publix-owned Pix convenience store located off Howland Boulevard in Deltona, Fla., in August when he and a co-worker decided to play practical jokes.
They put eggs in beer cartons, and Mesa urinated in the drink.

Anthony Mesa, 21.
A foreman with a Daytona Beach construction company became suspicious of the drink after he chugged the beverage, Local 6 News reported in an earlier story.
The victim was tested for diseases such as gonorrhea and hepatitis C after drinking the soda, the report said.
The construction worker settled a civil lawsuit with the store for an undisclosed amount.
Mesa has already served half that time since he pleaded no contest to tampering with a consumer product.
He must also remain on a form of house arrest for two years after he is released.
Mesa had faced up to 30 years in prison for the prank.
