@ Fred
Check this. The only reason HIV isn't spread by mosquitoes (yet) is because they digest the virus at the moment. But biologists claim the virus is not that far off from mutating around this. Once the virus becomes infectious through mosquitoes... we're all ****ed. Evolution with bacteria, viruses and microorganisms is VERY fast.

@ Mez
It is. There is no evidence of the virus doing so yet. But it was in a science journal where they were considering the serious possibility it could, given the behaviour of similar microorganisms. A mere possibility not an inevitability.

If what The Watcher saying is correct thenyou can be surethe Pharmaceutical companies to find a speedy cure for it.
Personally don’t believe that they don’t have or don’t know how to prevent or cure the aids virus. I just think its not a priority or as profitable for them to eradicate it right at this minute.

Woah Mez
I didn't say it was likely! It was merely something I read which shocked me. I knew that mozzies don't spread it because they inject saliva into people and not blood and HIV doesn't move that well in saliva and also that they digest it in their bellies. So I just though it was cool and nothing could happen. When I read that serious biologists were speculation on the virus mutating as viruses usually do, that that would be a possibility. I read that and thought WOW! But that doesn't mean it will happen.
If it did then nothing we could do would matter. No "getting acts together" would matter a bit really. But that is morbid thinking. Like a rock bashing earth to bits tomorow. It COULD happen... but you know...so what?

HIV and Aids drugs make pharmaceutical companies and the governments (through the taxation of pharma companies) A LOT of money. Keeping very ill people alive with expensive combinations of drugs is very lucrative. They have no desire to find a cure for this virus only to treat it. However, if it was a proven fact that mosquitoes and other biting insects could spread HIV on a Monday, by theFriday they would have miraculously found a cure. Fact.
In addition, man thinks he can live outside natures laws and this is why we continue to suffer from the threat of HIV. In the animal kingdom if an animal is sick, it is ostracised by the rest of the species and they do not procreate with the sick animal, they see or smell that its sick and they avoid it, its natures way of preventing the destruction of the race. However, humans develop ways to keep the very sick alive and looking well and thus the disease keeps on spreading and will never have the chance to die out instead it grows stronger and mutates to beat the drugs. I'm not advocating we ostracise people with HIV I'm just saying that yes they should use drugs to minimise suffering but not to prolong life as it just gives the sick more time to spread the disease and kill the race.

listen i have not got time to be politically correct, political correctness and the''oh not all africans have it'' stuff will not save my life. i will not have sexual relations with an immigrant from africa, its not racism, its simply keeping myself alive and healthy
most people agree with my no sex with africans stance, but they are simply too scared to admit it.

no because even though HIV is in every country, it is only a serious problem in Africa, in some African countries its 25 to 30% (south africa and zimbabwe). wheares in britain its only 0.2%, jamaica 0.9%. so even though i would always use a condom, the completely off limits tag onlyapplies to africans

Babygirl has made a good point that i've been thinking about for ages:
If you have aids why is there such a clamour to keep you barely alive with retroviral drugs? Surely it makes it more likely that you'll live long enough to infect others?
If I was in charge of AIDS policy in SA i'd say **** spending billions on treatment, i'd put the money into preventative measures like education, condoms and abstinence drives.
