If the dems dont take either house, its safe to say the party is dead. Talk about voting bliss, disenfranchisement, election results, media coverage, and how many black candidates rise and fall in your areas...

These elections in my opinion will determine whether each party (Democratic and Republican) will pursue racial matters (civil rights, equal opportunity) in the public sphere in the very near future. Both parties have not directly touched this issue with concern but are and have used it for wedge issues or division.
Already so call complaints http://www.usccr.gov/ have arisen going unresolved. This tells me that this election will determine whether these issue will be address never or shortly or actually left in the dust for so called higher aims.
Plus most states do not have an Office of Civil Rights where actual so called complaints are handled by the state attorney general most if not all are white and do not reside or have the background of our communities.
Alot is riding in these election in terms of race and public policy.
To uphold or to leave hanging.

Agreed. If Democrats can't win in a year where American soldiers are dropping like flies in Iraq, and where Repugs have been hit with sexual/financial scandals, then they need to pack it up and go home.

[suP]When you go into a voting booth, you press either a lever or on the more modern machines, electronic buttons... however, some people have complained that they pressed one button/lever and it did not tick the correct candidate and/or the ballot was stuck etc etc...theyblame the machines on losing votes due to malfunction....[/suP]

Yankee: ok thanks for the explanation..just a quick observation to you or anyone else who cares to comment... Isn't this the the THIRD election poll in a row where there have been complaints about the voting system..... How is it therefore that this issue still hasn't been addressed!!!

There was an incident here where people were calling reg voters and tellingthem if they voted they'll be arrested..Unfortunatly there are people stupid enough to fall for this. Although more people than usual where at the polls when I voted, and I had no problems..Polls close in less than an hour and Indiana is up first, if the dems pickup any house seats there I can rest well.
Hey Saftey,
Ireadon another board that40% ofregistered voters in Tenn.voted early when Ford was leading in the polls. If this is true that is a very good sign.

Indiana has closed, looks like the war effect has helped dems to the seat.
You ever heard of the Golden Rule. He who has the gold makes the rules!
He who asks is a fool for five minutes. He who never asks remains a fool for ever.

There are 40 competitive house seats and the repubs are defending the majority, the dems need to simply win 15 seats.. Winning the house gives them the power over important committees, one of them being the power to de-fund the war in Iraq. Polls have been showing that the dems SHOULD take the house.
The dems have to win 8 of 9 competitive seats in the "upper level" Senate, states to watch are Ohio, Tenn, Virgina, New Jersy, Maryland, Montana, Missori, Pennsylvaina, and Rhode Island..The Senate is supposably a complete tossup..
Exit polls show Repubs are coming out in stronger force than in 2004..NOT GOOD!
First states are coming up in a matter of minutes..
