OAKLAND -- Oakland police were investigating a pair of weekend homicides Sunday including the slaying of a pregnant mother of two, who was killed after she was caught in the crossfire of a gun battle outside a troubled nightclub.Authorities said that Shirley Deanna Smith, 30, was not involved in the dispute and was merely an innocent bystander.

She had come to Mingles nightclub to attend a local rapper's birthday party. Smith died at the hospital less than one hour after the shooting and doctors couldn't save her 16-week-old fetus. Police said the shooting may have stemmed from an earlier argument at the club near Jack London Square.

They say two groups started shooting at each other outside the club and Smith was caught in the middle while walking to her car . Smith's two children are now in foster care. The shooting was the third so far this year associated with the club.

Oakland's homicide tally grew to 132 for the year Saturday night when a man was gunned down near a school just west of the city's border with San Leandro.T

he shooting was reported around 11 p.m. Saturday, police said. It happened in the 400 block of 105th Avenue by Knight Street and near the Lionel Wilson College Preparatory Academy charter school.There was no immediate word on a suspect.

Now lets face facts here Blacks kill each other in numbers way out of proportion to crackas or anybody else. This shit was not going down like this back in the day. We had strong communities with very little murder. Today Black youth have no respect or value for human life or for each other.

In short no, not in this lifetime. I see Hollywood used another one of its films to send out a message to everyone. Watched The Departed over the weekend and that line where Jack Nicholson says words to the effect 'That's one thing I could never understand about n1ggers, it's never given it's taken'

While we sit here waiting for equality to be given to us we'll never get the real act together. Babylon for the majority is simply the lesser of all the other evils - the amount of collective work and effort and love and mutual respect it will take to achieve 'our' utopia is the biggest evil of them all!

This is a debate I miss here on BNV. Sure we can't do that much to improve some part of our lives, due to being very few (in sheer numbers). But there are things we can do. And these are things we should do.

I do know though that critism of black people isn't really that popular....ah well
