I would be interested to know what other black people think of her.
I went to see her for an issue concerning the benefit system and on the card they give you to list your problem there was a space for additional questions.
I asked her how black people at the grass roots were benefiting from having black high powered people such as herself, david Lamy, Paul Boteng and Baroness what ever (I forgot her name) in power. I also asked where were the modern day Bernie Grants.
She replied that since I thought she was doing such a rubbish job that I should go for parliament myself.
The question is I asked a legitimate question which warranted a legitimate response. No need to say I will not be going to see her again.
I would be interested in other members views.
Regards
Shakac

I just think that this woman is conning the British black public.
She is a back bencher with no aspirations to become a front bench poilitician this is cheating staying in the comfort zone.

Members of Parliament, regardless of their background, are a strange breed of people inhabiting a strange institution - and the longer they stay there, the more institutionalised (in every sense of the word)they become. I've found it helpful to remember that in my dealings with them over the years.
Diane has been around long enough to see what a front-bench career can do to your sanity and sense of self. Apart from anything else, a media career is far more lucrative....it's not by accident that she's on TV as frequently as she is. Nuff said.
Blessed are those who expect not to receive anything of substance from Diane Abbott....for they shall not be disappointed.

She answered your question if thats how you posed it to her.. her reply was; since - she was doing such a rubbish job that[you] should go for parliament [yourself].
In other words she thinks they're doing a rubbish job and isn't able to do what she prehaps had hoped when she first became a politician.

From my experience, Diane could easily have interpreted your question as implying that she and others were doing nothing, which might explain her response.
If you caught her on a good day, she might have spoken about her 'Black Women Mean Business' campaign, or the London Schools and the Black Child conferences she's sponsored, or the individual constituents she's helped....but she clearly chose not to.
You can draw your own conclusions about the value of her efforts....particularly if you've never heard of the stuff she's done...
