Alice Coltrane....wife of Legendary Tenor saxophonist John Coltrane passed today...Alice was also a Musician...and played in the last incarnation of "Tranes" Band
Since Tranes death in 1967 she has striven to keep his legacy alive...
All of their 3 sons are/were musicians (John Jr. died some years ago)...
Ravi is probably the most prominent of them......RIP Alice...
This remarkable woman was best friend,confidante and muse of the greatest jazz saxophonist ever. Without her steadying influence, we might not have had "A love Supreme" the first concept album and the single greatest jazz album ever recorded.
