To all those misguided fools who have criticized President Mugabe in recent weeks, let me unlock you from your neo-colonial, mental shackles.

FACT: Robert Mugabe is not a dictator. He was democratically elected by is own people. Yes, he organised beatings and sometimes murders of his opponents, and bull-dosed the homes of those who stood in his path - but they deserved what they got. They should have voted for him in the first place.

FACT: Under his leadership, the country has gone from strength to strength. People now have enough food to eat (provided they vote for Mr Mugabe's Zanu PF party). People now have the democratic freedom to protest in the streets (provided they are willing to be beaten to within an inch of their lives.) And as for the economy - well, things couldn't be better! Infation rates are running at an impressive 1,700% - that's only 377 times higher than Great Britain.

No wonder Zimbabweans are so optimistic about the future of their country. So very optimistic in fact, that out of a population of 12 million people, over 3 million Zimbabweans have chosen to flee the country - (that's 1 in every 4 people, for those of you who's maths ain't great). And under his selfless leadership, the average life expectancy for Zimbabweans is nearly 35 years old! - that's a ripe old age to live to.

Yes indeed, Robert Mugabe is a real hero. He sure showed those colonialists how to run a country. May God bless him and his party - and may the people of Zimbabwe continue to live in peace and harmony for many years to come.

South Africa should be applauded for not criticizing Mugabe - now that's leadership.

Oblivion - I work with a couple of people from that country and they say Mugabe has lost touch with reality. He's been in power too long and has lost the plot being enveloped in his own agenda. Hmm...uncanny. He wouldn't know what to do with himself outside of having power.

Either you are lying, or the people you work with are lying. No real Zimbabean would claim that Mugabe has "lost touch with reality" - the very thought is insulting. Would they claim that Nelson Mandela has lost his mind? Or Muhummed Ali?

No, so why pick on Mugabe - one of the saviours of Africa? They are probably Western spies who have been planted in your office to spread filthy propaganda. Never believe a word they say. The Western media has tried to portray Mugabe as a monster. They just can't bear to see an African leader steering his country towards paradise. Well, that's just too bad. I hope Mugabe remains in power for any years to come. In fact, every country in Africa should have a strong leader like Mugabe - within decades, the West would be on her knees and Africans would be the rich ones.

Long live Mugabe, long live the Zanu PF party!

Oblivion - the lives many south africans still live I've heard people say Mandela was better off in prison. I will level with you though that when my colleagues said what they did the first thing I asked myself was is it them living here in the UK who have lost touch with Zimbabwe even though they go back quite regularly.

What do you think about the way the opposition leader and his crew got blast up?

Are you trying to make a joke about the inflation rate and life expectancy?

Personally think Mugabe should step down because at 83 you have no business running a country.

Now just who on Earth do you think you are? What business do you have in claiming that the great hero Mugabe should "step down"?

You are a Western puppet - a spy planted by the white man to spread propaganda about Mugabe.

I actually feel sorry for you! You believe all the lies of the Western media and fail to see that the people of Zimbabwe have never had it so good! There is enough food for everyone now -and complete political freedom. Under Mugabe's leadership, Zimbabwe is now richer than ever before and poverty has been totally iradicated. Everyday, the people of Zimbabwe sing songs of happiness, they love the Zanu PF party and throw roses onto the armoured vehicles of Mugabe's soldiers.

Yes, indeed, things couldn't be better in Zimbabwe.

If only there were more of Mugabe's police officers -like the one below - who were prepared to win the "hearts and minds" of Zimbabweans through treating them gently and with respect.

How Mugabe is treating his people (good or bad depending on your perspective) and his 'attitude/stance' against whites is not an either/or option selection. That he is (claimed) to be doing no good for his people, is not something that is inexticably linkedto hisattitude toward the West(whites) and his determinationnot to work in their interest.

So it is totally wrong to suggest (as the last poster is doing) that support of his stance against whites is equivalent to support of his mistreatment of his people, and that continual support of his anti-white stance is what is purpetuating the problems (real or imagined) for every day Zimbabweans.

What! Let whites have their way andlife would be bowl of cherriesfor the averageZimbabwean?

We have history to show us the fallacy of that argument.

There are those who feel that the only way to ‘prove their own worth’ is by ‘devaluing the worth of others’. You will often find that a man who is compelled to measure his substance against the substance of another, has little of substance in the first place!

Exactly.

Zimbabwe is under an illegal embargo imposed by Britian and the US. Its like calling out Castro for this and that while he struggles to run a country on peanuts. Granted he should resign but leaving a power vacume for the Americans/British and their puppets to fill would only make things worse.

Gotta stop with the sarcasm Oblivion, it got old a while ago.

Maybe he is using the white issue to destroy the opposition, knowing the West cant and wont get involved because they will get no support from the ANC..I suppose if Mugabe was ousted the next guy or girl wont do any better. Zim has little too offer
