There is never a wrong time to let people who are openly and wantonly disrespecting you, know that you don't appreciate and don't intend to tolerate their disrespect, or just put them on general notice that you are hip to their bullsh*t and you're not buying it.
I think some here are missing the point of what Toyin did. Europeans by and large, not only refuse to acknowledge the LINGERING,economic/psychic/physical damage of the slave trade and slavery, they don't want to pay reparations, they try to minimize the effects of it, they don't even want to concede that we were active agents in obtaining our OWN freedom(hence the distortions/ movies propaganda/ about their largesse and generosity in GIVING us our freedom). The disrespect is neverending. For me personally, they can stick any apology up their asses, I want reparations,(pay us like u owe us for all the years that you hoe'd us, as Jay-z once said). However, I understand what Toyin was trying to accomplish by asking for it from the two symbols of British power. Sometimes for there to be any meaningful dialog, or resolution of conflict, or just clearing of the air, you have to do something to get the attention of theperson/people you are dealing with.(that usually involves making THEM uncomfortable in some way, disturbing THEIR peace, btw), usually at a time that is NOT convenient or pleasing to them, lol.

This statement is so correct I am surprised to read that some still in this day and age question what why and where Toyin chose to say and do in regards to this matter. What he did was not only correct but the manner and place where he chose to do it was spot on.
In one action he said
1. Shove your ceremony up your arse
2. Shove your monarch up your arse
3. kiss my arse all you politicians
4. Find your back bone and stand tall you are an African to all those Africans attending the tea party ceremony with their heads held down.
5. Also let not forget the icing on the cake topped with a nice cherry ........one African man uprooted the whole security system and could've taken out the Queen and Prime Minister if that was his intention.
Toyin and ligali is going to need more than ever genuine support now physically spiritually and financially we need to do what we can. The system is going to try and break him down and what he stands for we should remember to voice our supportive opinion at every given opportunity in whatever way we can.

This was reported in the Daily Telegragph today...

Dr John Sentamu, the first Archbishop of York and Britain's first blackarchbishop, said he was glad the protester, who was later arrested, had been allowed to speak but added; 'I hope the depth of anger he expressed is matched by that he should have towards those African Chiefs who grew fat through the capture and sale of their kith and kin for trinkets'

Soulstarr - I admire Jeremy Paxman as a devils advocate but tha bit he said about the Jewish holocaust being in living memory was so anal it had piles. If time has got anything to do with it why on earth do these people feel the need to commemorate the abolition of slavery...I mean that was 200 years ago:?:?
just thought I'd mention this observation of mine. There's a dangerous game being played out there and it entails the very liberal and superficial use of the word slavery.....yes, that's slavery meaning cheap labour. What happened to our ancestors makes slavery look like legitimate minimum wage. When a european argues his defence of african slavery, this is all they see, cheap labour. Most people (including the brotha on newsnight) fall into the trap of debating with europeans from this perspective.
When a european pleads his cause and mentions the word African slavery the very first thing you do is tell them what Africans were put through was not slavery, slavery was the tip of a huge iceberg. What we need is a name for this iceberg that encompasses the slavery (cheap labour), the rapes, the imprisonment, the torture, those thrown overboard, the murders, the shortened life expectation, the abuse, the eradication of history and identity, the genocide, the....
Maafa is used in a particular circuit and I've seen the use of the expression African holocaust which may have more of a western impact but for me I'm yet to find a word that truly describes it for me. Whatever word it is, make sure that it is this and not slavery (cheap labour) that you debate when dealing with these hypocrites. And everytime they tallk sh1t like 'oh, but everyone had a bit of slavery, or the scots, the english, the irish, the indians were slaves too; or africans sold africans, don't even bother with the long explanations and the long argument, just tell them straight up that they are still talking about slavery not (for arguments sake) 'maafa'. You can regret slavery like what Tony Blair has done but maafa/holocaust is where you start talking about the merits of an apology and reparations.
Maafa generally translates to the African holocaust which for me further dilutes the seriousness and the depth of what needs to be articulated. Holocaust is synonymous with the German treatment of the jews - does anyone know whether this word even existed before this event? I believe what happened to Africa needs its own description, slavery and holocaust does it an injustice and holocaust to me (and the average man) psychologically sounds like we're riding the backs of the jews which can mentally blind us into unwittingly debating from a perspective that the jewish thing happened first.
Compare what happened to the jews with what happened in Rwanda but to compare it with what happened to our ancestors tells me someone is having a friggin laugh. You never see how when Toyin buss out yesterday Tony and the Queen look frighten like puss! They can fool some people some of the time but they can't fool all of the people all of the time.

Seems to me that you brotha's and sista's have a warrior who is truly down for the cause. I know all of you are well aware of this but, stay close to him. Sooner than later white folk are going to fabricate some dirt and leak it out to the media. It will probably be delivered by a coconut.
Every generation must stand and be counted. This is your chance to take this momentum and force change. I stand 100% by all of you for what it's worth.Iwill tell everyone I know about this and direct them to this site as wellas Ligali. Stay strong.
