Teenage boy dies in knife attack An area around the scene of the killing has been cordoned off A teenager has been killed and another is critically injured following a knife attack in north-east London. Paul Erhahon, 14, from Leytonstone, was stabbed to death and a 15-year-old boy injured in what is thought be an attack involving a gang of youths.
Officers found the boys after being called to Crownfield Road, Leytonstone, shortly before 2000 BST.
A 13-year-old boy and a man, aged 19, were later arrested over the attack and are to be questioned by police.
Officers have not named the other teenager who was injured but said the victims, who were black, were friends and Paul Erhahon lived in Buttermere Close in Leytonstone, close to where the stabbing took place.
Det Ch Insp Matthew Horne said: "We understand a large group of youths were involved in an incident in the foyer of Gean Court, a block of flats in Langthorne Road E11, during which we believe the two victims were stabbed.
"It is believed they then managed to stagger the short distance to nearby Crownfield Road.
"A number of youths were seen running from the scene.
"We are appealing for anyone who was present during the incident to come forward, along with any witnesses or anyone with information on this appalling crime."
Police say they are remaining open-minded regarding the motive and circumstances of the attack.
A friend of Paul's, who did not want to be named, said the boy was also known as MC Hellrazor and was keen on jungle and garage music.
He said Paul attended Kingsford Community School, the same school as 17-year-old Adam Regis, who was stabbed in Plaistow, east London, last month.
LONDON'S TEENAGE VICTIMS James Andre Smartt-Ford, 16, shot in Streatham, 3 February Michael Dosunmu, 15, shot in Peckham, 6 February Billy Cox, 15, shot in Clapham, 14 February Kodjo Yenga, 16, stabbed in Hammersmith, 14 March Adam Regis, 15, stabbed in Plaistow, 17 March
The 17-year-old also said Paul was part of a group of youngsters who lived in the area, called "the youngers", but stressed that it was not a gang.
"I can't explain how I feel," he said. "He was a good lad. He was healthy, he did not smoke, didn't drink."
Local resident Richard Lamb, 36, told how he saw "a load of hoodies" shortly before hearing sirens.
He said he saw the group walking and "soon after the police turned up".
He said the area was "getting worse without a doubt."
A large area surrounding the estate has been cordoned off by police and several officers are guarding the scene.
The latest attack follows the killing of five other young males in London in the past two months.

You I'd like to say this is JUST about 'hopelessnes' but to be honest i don't think that excuse washes anymore... I know Leytonstone well.. and its not exactly deprived in any sense of the word... And I really don't want to hear the excuse of single parenthood as that is an insult to hard working mothers who raise descent children....
I am firmly of the view that like the huge numbers of Blacks in hospital...there is something about being BLACK and being raised in the WEST that is just not healthy..... I have met soo many parents lately who literally fear for their male children in this country and are seriously thinking about moving out of the UK....
If I had a boy child, honestly I would send him back home because he would be safer there than here...

I'm gonna sound like a neo-con now; but its time they increased stop and search.
Obviously youths think they can carry weapons with impunity now.
Unacceptable.
**** if it frustrates and embarrases a few people - I'd much rather kids avoided carrying weapons.
Its a shame to see
Brothers killing themselves
Wasting energy
Should be uplifting themselves

I wholeheartedly agree with that. This is becoming a bloody unlaughable joke.

you know I was so upset with myself for thinking the same thing recently. I knw how hard people fought over the whole stop and search thing when the police was just taking it for joke but nowI seriously wonder if its time they increased it again.
The only problem with that is that the police will single out just black boys and then it becomes an inbalence. They will use it just to terrorise our people like they did in the90's.It should be ALL youths being stopped and searched. Just cos you hear more about the black cases recently, doesn't mean white and asian people etc don't go on the said same way.And bun thistrident nonsense. Half of theproblem is that to government are treating like ablack problem. We allknow that somewhere at the top of the food chain is somerich white man gettin fat off of the blood shed. KMT
R.I.P to another young life lost.

I think I'd agree about the hospitals. Not a good place for us. Human laboratory.
I know leytonstone well too.
It seems to me that there is hopelessness for young black males. With the pressure of racism coming from all aspects of society and theissues we have within our communitiesa culture is formed for them. This to me isa culture that is needed in order for them to have a sense of what is going on as theyjourney from boys to men. Grime is their form of expression and gives a sense of whatreferences areinfluencing their culture.
After seeinga clip of a music video (Grime) with the boy in it I thought to myself: Why are you doing that ? Why do you need, absolutely need, to replicate some Wu Tang type video from back in the day. I'm sure all of you live comfortably enough. Why would you want to make your circumstances seem worse than what they really are ? Even to this day I see men who are my age (22)still doing this bad man, at night, crew all around me in a stairway, calling out peoples names ting. Is that what you're really aspiring to ? And some of these guys have children themselves. Can you look after your kin ? Can you look afterfamily ? Can you cook ?
I wonder whatvision they have for their future. Football.....or......maybe even more Grime, as I have heard myself on occassions?
Anyway, from these videos what I see is a lack of good direction, lots offustration, fear and hopelessness and incidents like that of yesterday, are, I guess a way of bringing things to ahead to release the tension.
Yes, Kunjufu. We not good here. But I think its better to remedy within before any idea of how the world around us could change.
Why, for instance don't we have control in our community of the thinking that goes around the younger generation as we can see from their Grime You Tube videos and the culture that is attached to it ? I think that's one most important aspects we need to deal with in order to deal with our communities: information. Otherwise, if there's no filtering or editing, those who are aren't adept enough, mature or informed enough will make the wrong moves as to what our community should be allowed to think. The culture amongst the youth I'd say is already out of control as is with Hip Hop in the States.
OK, rant over.

While we contemplate the implications of the statement that "youths" should be stopped and searched "Every minute of every f-cking day. Hey I realise the majority of youths are well behaved... but tough sh*t.
Some good old fashioned fear of authority is lacking today ..." (What short memories Africans have) ...
