Kenyan student held in China
By Lucianne Limo
A Kenyan student is facing death sentence in China over drug trafficking.Foreign Affairs minister, Mr Raphael Tuju, said the student was arrested with the drugs."There is absolutely nothing the Government can do about this case. It is the responsibility of parents to sort out the problem," Tuju said.
He said the ministry had received scanty information about the case and cautioned students abroad against being lured by drug barons.
Often, Tuju said, students arrested with drugs do not use them, but are used as conduits. "It is upon parents to advise their children because the Government cannot be held responsible," he said.
The minister was speaking at his office after signing an agreement by the East African Community for the establishment of Lake Victoria Basin Commission in Kisumu.
The commission will help initiate sustainable development on the basin.
Tuju said the commission would work with the communities to eradicate the water hyacinth.
