Prime Minister of St Lucia Visits Hackney Police
18/8/2007

The acting Prime Minister of St Lucia, the Honourable Stephenson King, visited Hackney Borough Police last Friday, August 10 as part of a fact- finding visit to learn more about borough level policing and crime reduction initiatives.
The acting Prime Minister of St Lucia, the Honourable Stephenson King, visited Hackney Borough Police last Friday, August 10 as part of a fact- finding visit to learn more about borough level policing and crime reduction initiatives.
Mr King, who became acting Prime Minister earlier this year, held talks with Partnership Superintendent Leroy Logan and Chief Inspector Cheryl Burden, as well as other officers and staff on the borough. He also toured the new Safer Neighbourhood office at Orsman Road, N1.
Of particular interest to Mr King was the use of SmartWater in detecting stolen property and perpetrators of burglary. SmartWater is a unique "liquid DNA" that is invisible to the naked eye and when marked on stolen property can provide valuable evidence that can lead to the prosecution and conviction of offenders. Hackney Borough Police has had significant success, with burglary reduction in SmartWater areas, as high as 76%.
Mr King was also keen to learn more about Hackney Borough's 19 Safer Neighbourhood Teams, which have been in operation since October 2005. Of interest was the way in which teams work in partnership with the local community to address problems of particular concern and work together with statutory and voluntary partners (eg. local council, probation, registered social landlords) to find long-term solutions.
The Honourable Stephenson King, acting Prime Minister of St Lucia said :
"As the Minister with responsibility for the portfolios of Home Affairs and National Security, my visit presents an opportunity for establishing important linkages between Hackney Borough Police and its counterpart in Saint Lucia, and for exploring the Borough's partnership approach to policing that encompasses a citizen-focused style and strategies for engaging youth. The positive results achieved by Hackney Borough Police are testimony that a community-orientated approach to policing is effective in reducing crime, and ultimately leads to a safer society."
Superintendent Leroy Logan of Hackney Borough Police said, "This was an excellent opportunity to showcase successful partnership working in Hackney and share best practice. We look forward to building closer ties in the future."

Please read slowly.
If the British Police force has a problem with Institutional (Organised) Racism which is White Supremacy then any attempt to export British Policing strategy is effectively the export of White Supremacist Racist Policing.

RESS whappan bredrin. Shocked and happy to see you join the family. You know me very very well. You also know my bredrins Dr Perry S Dr Lez Henry and Dr Kimanhi...We have had nuff engagements over the years.
But have to disagree with your analysis, even though I am very aware of your campaign regarding Enfeild Police etc etc. Stephenson King who I actually know already has a team of English policemen in St Lucia most of whom I have met etc..
He is no doubt here to learn about policing strategies and practices etc as I was there not long ago talking to them and other island forces and security agencies about similar things....
They are not here to learn about white supremacy and policing cannot be reduced to white supremacy unless you are suggesting that all is involved in policing in which I will beg to differ seriously about your understanding of what policing is. The racism of the police which I will agree with you is prevalent but that is to suggest that if I want to learn about eg the use of the internet for sexual abuse, paedophilia etc I would not go to my colleagues at Operation Ore which I guarantee you is the first place I would go and in fact have recommended that Caribbean colleagues contact people in Ore because they know far more about that shit than we do.
So happy to see you but cannot agree with the reductionist white supremacy is everything when it is clearly not and not in policing.
Peace.
