It was mentioned earlier that the New York Times were the first to break the "Reverend scandal" story - in a politically motivated attempt to derail Obama.

Actually, I think it was Bill Oreilly from Fox news who was first to run with it. He despises the Democrats with a vengeance ( he's been tearing into Hillary at every opportunity for months ). It was on his show, 'The Oreilly Factor' that the first clips of that idiotic, self-defeating, shoot-myself-in-the-foot preacher were played.

Fox New's rating jumped but the papers ignored the story. So Fox played it again (this was well over a week ago) and AGAIN. Eventually, the papers couldn't ignore it.... and the story exploded. Oreilly is smug and openly gloats about being the first with the story. He knows he's done an excellent job - having delivered his anti-Obama torpedo and hit the target.

Personally, I don't think Obama will recover from this. Those Reverend clips will be shown again and again and again in the weeks running up to November. His best hope this that somebody torpedos Hillary and the public's attention focuses on her screw up.

Interesting the reality of how much of Obama getting into office depends on winning the white vote where when white people talk about winning the black vote they do it knowing it's a cosmetic gesture with little effect on the overall outcome - as such their campaign can be as racist as it wants to be where arguments against racism serves no other purpose than to mitigate the blatancy of rubbing salt into the wounds.

You might hear a huff and a puff that that's just to be polite, there's a difference between huffing and puffing in an attempt to swing a vote and huffing and puffing to say of all the white leaders in power this one can relate to black people the most.

Obama alienating white people is detrimental to his cause, end of the road stuff where a white person alienating black people simply opens the door a bit more for another white person.

I tend to agree tat he is a dead man walking....but i find it strange that now you can be judged on the behaviour of others who you are associated with...strange```````1

It's not the behavior that's getting him, it's the MINDSET, or the perceived mindset behind the behavior. Obama's WHOLE theme has been RACIAL TRANSCENDENCE and RACIAL UNITY. You can't run with that as your essential theme, then have it come out that you've been CLOSELY associated with a church and a pastor that appear to be the antithesis of that. HIs other calling cards have been JUDGEMENT and being a NEW kind of politician. So to the average white person viewing this, he: 1. associated with this pastor/church for all this time because he agrees with/empathizes with rhetoric/views espoused therein-meaning he's really NOT 'post racial"/a unifier or healer, 2. He DIDN'T agree with the stuff being espoused all these years but saw nothing wrong with continuing to associate closely with the pastor/church having his girls attend-which means his judgement is suspect or 3. He didn't agree with the rhetoric/views of the church but continued the association because it was politically EXPEDIENT for him to maintain the connections with WRight and the Church because of their prominence in the AA community/district where he was a state legislator-which would mean he's just like every other politician. Any way you slice it, it comes up bad as far as the average white person is concerned.

Disagree about your assessment of The Reverend, nothing idiotic or untrue for that matter about anything he was saying, at least not the parts whites are most objecting to.

You're right about the origins of the story though. As a matter of fact, O'Reilly and Sean Hannity have been at each other over which of them broke the story first. Fox actually started talking about the story a year ago, in bits and pieces. Beyond that, Chicago papers(Obama's home turf), have BEEN talking about it, so the idea that there was some conspiracy to bring the story out is laughable. If anything, there has been a liberal white media conspiracy to BURY the story,lol. If it wasn't for Youtube and the blogosphere, it would have worked.
