I'm far too tired to go into in depth analysis right now, gonna go to bed right after this post, however there were things about the video montage which bothered me,the over-emphasis of the white side of his family, how many times did we see pics of his Mom and Grandparents etc, yeah they showed his dad once but Barack also has a sister, yet I don't even know what herher voice sounds like, never mind how she looks......plus what about the Kenyan strand of his family?? surely can't have just ended with his Dad,where are they??And I know it's all about allaying YT's fears and saying "i'm more one of you".
The bottom line is this,I do believe Barack is a man of integrity, who loves his family and I believe he will be good for the world as President, not just America, the fact that there are things about his campaign which I find off key are down to his "advisors" and not Barack.I think he was probably dragooned into picking Biden,I don't think that would have been Barack's first choice, but we won't know all until the dust settles.
So even if for no other reason that symbolism, even if he only delivers on 10% of what he promised,he's already 100% better than Bush.
On a slightly more frivolous note.........................
With Michelle and Obama,I do believe they will be the "first couple" in my lifetime, who I know for sure are having sex with each other-ie:no sexless marriage or extra marital affairs. You just know that Obama and Michelle be GETTIN DOWN!
I know that hasnt been the case with any other president in my lifetime, cept for Carter who probably was giving it to his wife.........and only her.
How refreshing it will be to have them in the Whitehouse.
By the way did you see Obama flinch when some of those fireworks went off??

Good Night Jett....
On the issue of the montage, yes i agree with you..I think the over emphasis on his white parentage was obviously deliberate and meant to appeal to the undecided among the american electorate... At the end of the day, we shouldn't get carried away with the fact that he is BLACK, the fact is he is vying for the American presidency and not the leadership of BLACK America...or Africans..

Burning Spear: i agree with her in part but actually the truth is NOT that we've not been in the UK long enough.. I suspect that even if we had a long history as you guys have in the USA...there is no way on gods green earth that the British would vote in a BLACK prime Minister, with a WHITE wife..never mind one with a BLACK family..
Remember this is the country that refused to vote in a Welsh man on the basis that he was NOT english, this is also likely to be the country to vote out a scotish man for similar reasons...
The opne good thing about Obama win or lose i hope will be the welcome return of the BLACK family in the West...too often we are running into the arms of everyone except our own...

@KJ...Do you see the way they look at each other, in particular the way he looks at her? Dang, they need to bottle that up and sell it! For real. You can't fake that kind of genuineness. It makes your heart melt to see the mutual love and respect they have for one another. Bless'em

It's a McCain/Schwarzenegger ticket y'all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrghhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!
Just kidding, this couldn't happen coz if McCain snuffed it,Arnold could not become US prez because he wasn't born in country...........................unles they changed the constitution???? ...which aint outside of he realms of possibility.
Still waiting to hear who McCain has chosen,I reckon Obama's speech was a bit of a body blow to their campaign and everyone is now re-strategizing.

Fox and CNN it's like a tale of two coverages. And the first one on Fox to throw Obama under a bus was a "brother".
By the way Romney and Pawlenti are out, they are saying McCain is going WOMAN!
Someone named Sarah Palin I believe..........I think this decision could have happened in the wee hours. If this is true, like I said before Obama is finished.

Jett I know about the Woman VP...just posted that on the other thread....as its funny that you mention the brother throwing Obama under the bus...because i've just been talking about that to Yankee... isn't interesting how all these blacks are now coming from everywhere to attack Obama...
How long have blacks been whining about a new MLK, a new black leader..we get one and immediately everyone attacks him on every issue possible real or imagined...

The thing that is crazy about this speech is simply this. You may agree with his politics or not, that is besides the point. Most people don't vote on the issues anyway as like with the PUMA voters.
But Bill Clinton was magnificent. He was just cutting down Republicans like wheat. Senator Clinton was awesome, dispelling all doubts about where her supporter are supposed to go. She thanked her supporter, reminded them of the women ("White" women, but give her credit. She mentioned Harrient Tubman) struggle, then pivoted to Obama. John Kerry was ripping them up. Ted Kennedy was inspirational. Dick Durbin was good. Al Gore was a good as I have ever seen him.
Michelle Obama set the tone with the best speech on the opening day of any convention.
And still Obama.
When it comes to speaking, ain't nothing like that brotha. I have seen many political speeches. I watched tapes of Kennedy. Saw Bill Clinton in his prime. Ronald Reagan.
He beats them all.
I just didn't think he would be able to give a show as good, because of all that stuff that came before. But he did that and more. . .then made it look easy.
“If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and deprecate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground, they want rain without thunder and lightning.
