Alton Wright began working a couple of weeks in Cleveland, Ohio to organize buses and riders for Friday’s March for Justice in Washington, D.C.
“We’ve got three or four buses and two vans that will be pulling out around 11:10 p.m.,” Wright told BlackAmericaWeb.com Thursday night. He won’t make the trip himself, but said it was important for him to make certain others had an opportunity.
“I am disabled, and I have a doctor’s appointment on Friday,” he said. “But I know the cause they're marching for is greater than myself.”
Buses from across the country are expected today in the nation’s capital for a march at the U.S. Department of Justice. The Rev. Al Sharpton of the National Action Network said he called for the march in response to an increasing number of hate crimes in America and the absence of appropriate response from the U.S. Department of Justice.
Activities for the day are set to begin at 6 a.m. with a live broadcast of "The Tom Joyner Morning Show." From 10 a.m. to noon, there will be a series of speeches. Then in the afternoon, the crowd will march around the Justice Department.
