@ gmahogany

In your experience, will this appealing to race approach work or not

You ever heard of the Golden Rule. He who has the gold makes the rules!

He who asks is a fool for five minutes. He who never asks remains a fool for ever.

I think that whether or not this approach works, has a lot to do with who is using it. If it is a Black person who who has no track record for supporting issues that are important to us, or up until a minute ago, was barely identifying as BLack, and is just pulling the "vote for me cause I'm Black" thing out of their ass, it tends not to work.

I think Obama has the background and the track record to make such an approach successful, though it's still hard, because there are white candidates that some Blacks find attractive, and have "known" longer, than they've known him.

Michelle is right to try it though, they have to do something. If Obama is not able to win a state like SC, with such a large Black population, when Blacks who were way less "electable", like Jesse Jackson, were able to(it being his homestate not withstanding), it's not gonna look too good. At any rate, I don't think this approach can hurt him(not with Black folks anyway, might hurt him with some of the white folks who'd rather not be reminded that he's Black or that he may actually do something to benefit Black people, lol), and it may well sway some of the Black women in that state, who are on the fence or leaning towards Hlllary.

This is what has America talking about Michelle Obama

Michelle Obama speaks with MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski - Morning Joe - MSNBC.com

Very straight forward and personal
