While I would rather see Kilpatrick honor and commit to his marriage, it has nothing to with how he runs the City of Detroit. They always think that the citizens of the city pay x amount of money for his case and this affair he had with this woman as it will damage the economy or something . The majority of the citizens are farprobably far more concerned about job growth and a peace of mind than his love life. That problem is between him, his wife and his mistress to resolve. He's not the publc offical to do it and he won't be the last and moreso, his affair isn't going bring down his city

You know they were going to get him the first chance they got. The only thing people know about Detroit is Ford, the Lions, and Kilpatrick.

Detroit is in dire straits and not because of him, but because of the economy and the layoffs due to the automotive industry in this country. This was the lifeblood of that area and can't fall into his lap.

To me they are lucky the city has not been abandoned completely.

He has overcome bigger scandals......involving city funds.cops,etc

Kwame is from a political family so he already has a machine at work to spin this.

CeeCee.I have peeps in Detroit.They abhor Kwame for alot of reasons.His "carrying on" distracts from him effectively governing the city.

I'm watch US news now and it looks like District Attorney are gunning for Kilpatrick hard....11 count indictment on various charges Prejury, preverting the course of justice raase methinks him and Ms Bettie's goose is cooked...someone is going to jail!!!

Wow actually listening to the facts,I gotta say boy was this man dumb 14,000 text messages to the woman he denied having an affair with..geez when will people learn NOT to write down their business...?

@CeeCEE, it's not just about him lying about sex, which everybody does, ESPECIALLY men,lol. As usual, the coverup is worse than the original act. First of all, he allegedely used his staff(police detail which does connect to public funds/taxpayers money) to facilitate and cover up his rendevous's with this lady. He allegedly ruined the careers of 2 police officers by accusing them of lying about the situation when it was actually HIM doing the lying. He allegedly used tax payers money to PAY those wronged police officers in a Civil suit(in a down low settlement), to the tune of 8.4 million dollars. There is a whole lot more to this, than just him cheating on his wife.

It's gonna be hard for him to cry racism on this, though he's giving it his best shot. THe prosecutor coming after his ass is a Black lady, who I'm a little familiar with and wouldn't want coming after me. The 2 cops whose lives he ruined were BLACK. Destroyt is damn near 90% Black,lol.(I've got relatives and friends who live there). The area does have somewhat tense racial relations, usually played out between the city(Black folks) and the surrounding surburbs(mostly white folks).

I have no sympathy for him. I'm so sick of these sorry ass Black politicians doing all manner of STUPID, self serving, arrogant dirt and then EXPLOITING Black people's: loyaty/race pride/distrust of Crackers/ and gullibility to get away with murder. Your Black ass ain't got no absolute monarchial right to be Mayor(in a city with that many Negroes I'm sure we can find another Black man to be mayor and possibly one who isn't as dumb as Kwame is), step the phuck down and get your sh*t straight. These mofos get these jobs and think they are Emperors or some sh*t. We are not obligated to cosign and uphold these fools in everything they do, ESPECIALLY when the people it most negatively effects is US. I feel bad for his mother. Carolyn Kilpatrick, she's a Congresswoman, current head of the Congressional Black Caucus, i think, though she should have taught her son to take responsibility for his own behavior and not be willing to drag down the whole community and city, FURTHER, just to save his own lying ass.

Gmahogany: i watched Mr kwame last night, he reckons he will be vindicated, and that he will beat the charges...all i can say is if he can beat those charges after some of the vidence i've heard..his name is NOT kilpatrick its Houdini..

His goose is cooked!! If fact i'm amazed that his party is sitting for this crap, and they haven't already demanded his resignation....

Backatya: The thing is 14,000 is a lot of text, so the question how in the hell did he manage to hide the bills that would have given the game away......!4,000 to the SAME number.. And if you think about it 14,000..geez he must have been texting morning noon and night, from his house, his office and even during meetings.... thats a LOT of text to ONE person...boy that woman must have been hot stuff!!!

However what amazes me is his wife, not a peep, not a word from her....raase that Ooman is not from Yard beca ting would have gwarn by now!!!

I think his goose is cooked,too. Even the excuse any and everything a Black man in office does brigade, has a limit. I think his arrogance and defiance is eventually going to turn even that crew against him. It's already happening from what I hear. The City Council voted 11 to 1 and asked him to resign. He said NO,lol.

BTW, to re-emphasize the seriousness of this and that's it's not just about cheating or sex, somewhere in the mix, a murder of a witness(as part of the cover up) or something like that occured. My friend from Detroit told me about it a few months ago, and but I can't remember the details. As soon as I talk to my friend and get the skinny, I'll share.

This is the kind of thing that reinforces my cynicism (and downright distrust) of that breed of ANIMAL called "The Politician". It (the Political System) is constructed to serve the Greedy and the Selfish and I don't believe that anyone who REALLY cares about people end up in high political office...should such people actually end up getting into Politics in the first place. The whole thing is such a den of inequity. Altruism and Politics don't mix.

This is why with all the reams being written and debated over Obama, I keep it all in perspective by reminding myself............HE TOO IS A POLITICIAN AT THE END OF THE DAY!

I'm just passionate about it, because it's not just this situation. This kind of stuff happens all over America with Black elected officials. Yeah he seemed to be really arrogant and overconfident for a while, even his wife, as if they owned the city or something. His mother even had to talk to him. He should have been more humble. What I dont understand is why he 'allegedly' used the city's money to fund some of his extra curricular activities, I mean he was making excess of 200k a year and didn't pay to stay in the mansion, unless there are some hidden mayor fees I may not know about.
