I saw this today and I was just speechless...It is an utter disgrace and an insult to everyone of Peckham, whether you 're Black or White anyone who lives or works in Peckham ought to be offended and SHOULD be demanding the immediate resignation of this waste of space Harriet Harman.... She has no business representing the people of Peckham after her comments and actions today...

Just like Diane Abbott, it seems to be these jumped up joker politicians are using us[the people] to further their own ends and f.uck the rest of us, and then they make paper without actually earning the position that we the PEOPLE put them into... If Phave the bloody cheek to treat us like criminals and lepers....After we PUT them in Power to benefit US If Peckham is soo dangerous that this joker needs to wear a STAB PROOF vest whilst being flanked by THREE Police officers... Then the question has to be asked what the hell has she done or is she going to do..to PROTECT the very people who voted her into officer election after election...?

Obviously we [us poor plebs] cannot afford or we are not able to borrow a stab proof vest from the local police chief, so what are the poor saps supposed to do whilst she 'protects' cosssets herself...?

If the people of Peckham vote this wretch back into office after that insult, they deserve her as an MP...get rid of her now!!!

I wouldn't ride through Saaaf London in any less than an army tank never mind a stab proof vest. In North London you could leave your doors and cars unlocked and walk pon street at night.

i've lived in peckham all my life, she ( harriet harman )like many mps. are so distanced from real life that they think around every street corner their is a three year old with an oozey, or o mad pensioner with a 12 inch machette waiting to decapitate any one that even looks at them funny..

the said thing is that most m.p.s are exactly the same as this women. their is almosT no point in voting a REPLACENT IN.

...so let me try and see...okay she is supposedly the current MP of Peckham...and she is wearing a bullet proof vest? Just goes to show that ignorance is bliss. But i'm sure if half of the people I know who live outside of Peckham could afford a bullet-proof vest then they will pay for it! Suppose if she gets shot in the head? Obviously she has not thought this through. I just see it as another generalised misconception of Peckham. She's not the only one who behaves like that, so I don't take offence. Like Mike Pain said she is very distance from normality and reality. Ironically, the area in the background is the police station! Obviously not all parts of Peckham are violent. I'll be more than happy to give any person a tour of Peckham. Where I live has none of that violent rubbish they plant into minds via media.

I wouldn't bloody vote for her or anyone ...people have it in their minds that a democracy is needed...presuming there is distrust in the government. Why would we vote for someone we don't trust?

Not that I'm on this woman's side or anything but I do feel sorry for her. Pictures tell a thousand words, but are they always the right ones? If you don't know the circumstances as to why she was wearing the vest, then a 'news'paper like the Dail Heil can seriously manipulate you. She and several witnesses have said she went for a walk around with the met and one of the senor police handed her the vest saying it was a new type of vest and would she like to wear it (we don't know what that persons motives were, maybe they set her up with the Daily Heil seeing as she isn't the sharpest tool in the box). .Politicians are often asked to wear the uniform, like a building site hat, flack jacket for a photo-op. She put it on and well the rest is history. So I think she's been naive as i'm sure she wouldn't want to paint her own constituancy voters negatively as opposed to trying to make a crime statement or embarasss her boss, Gordon Brown. In fact there has been some praise for her in some quaters at the way she gunned down the Dail Heil on Radio 4 later that day.
