BNP wins seat in London Assembly


The British National Party has won its first seat on the London Assembly after passing the 5% voter threshold.

Candidate Richard Barnbrook, leader of the BNP group on Barking and Dagenham Council and a mayoral candidate, will take up one of the 25 assembly seats.

BNP spokesman Simon Darby welcomed the win: "We've witnessed the first major politician elected not for telling lies but for telling the truth."

But critics said it was a victory for "hatred, violence and stupidity".

London voters elected 14 of the London Assembly members directly, and the remaining 11 divided between the parties in proportion to London-wide votes.

Mr Barnbrook, who came fifth in the mayoral race with 69,000 votes, had promised to give the "real people of London" a voice.

He said he believed immigrants who have arrived in the past 15 years were taking more than they were giving.

The BNP have had a number of councillors elected in recent years, but until these elections had never had anyone elected to a higher profile position.

The BNP campaign had prompted other politicians to call for voters not to elect the party.

Campaign group Hope Not Hate said: "A BNP victory means hatred, violence and stupidity."

Surprised nobody in media land has tried to paint it as " a protest vote", which always raises the question in my mind why not protest vote for the greens or the monster Raving Loony party? Who's policy on ID cards is intersting:

"To make I.D cards more acceptable the loony party is the only party who has issued I.D cards in the form of a mirror, in the format of Key rings, and Compact mirrors for our feminie members. Loony Party Policy States:

I.D cards will be issued in form of a small compact mirror with the following instructions.
1.If asked to identify yourself .....look in mirror to check that its you. If you cannot identify yourself....
2.Ask someone else to look in the mirror to see if its you....If you still cannot identify yourself....
3.Try again later when sober."


Back to the BNP, this Country has been on a rightwing bender for the past twenty odd years, all this "middle way" approah has seen the adoption of more policies from the right and far right making parties like the BNP more palatable then they might otherwise be. Together with all the "English identy crisis" and the "nobody likes us" white working class media backlash.

i was sick to stomach when i heard the news. look how many black and asian people live there!!! even if half of them went out to vote, that would not of happened. they just sit around and wish, you have the right to vote USE IT.

Exactly.

Although Boris being the London Mayor is going to grate with me for a good while, the few votes missing there were definitely enough to have been made up by various ethnic peoples in London but most don't vote.

With all due respect as a regular visitor here and a voter concerned by the level of immigration, I think I can state emphatically that the white population's fear is not based on colour as much as the deluge of eastern europeans coming here.
It is only in certain areas the BNP will ever make any in roads to power.

This is how East European immigration is presented, they come they work hard and go home - which the vast majority do. Africans, Asians and other persons with a darker hues also work hard and and go home. These traits however are only attributed to East Europeans in media land. It's telling when that stalwart of anti-immigration Sir Andrew Green commenting on the report on newsnight makes the distinction between East European migrants and what he called "third world migrants". Apart from the geogrphical difference between the two groups, which other difference do you think he has in mind? The whole East European succession has allowed those who are "concerned" about "third world" (read those with darker skins) migration to speak out without nakedly reavealing their racism. In this Country you cannot seperate race and immigation.

Race and immigration are tied together obviously.

Im sure anyone who knows the white psyche will also recognise the genuine fears of the man in the street.
Some areas of the country have been over run by Poles, making up to a quarter of the population. If anyone works on a building site they will have seen the amount of Polish builders through out the land.

Is it wrong to be concerned ?

I suppose the logical questions to ask are:

1. What is the white psyche?
2. Aren't Eastern Europeans white?

These are questions for white people. Please respond.
