Police should harass young thugs - Smith | Politics | The Guardian

Police should be harassing badly behaved youths by openly filming them and hounding them at home to make their lives as uncomfortable as possible, the home secretary will say today................

African heart, African mind

To me it's a terrible idea. There is more than enough filming of UK citizens already and police have too much power. They can use anti-terrorism laws to harrass or arrest you on all sorts of ridiculous grounds - like taking photographs.

It sounds like a play for popular support - harrassing the the anti-social youth. It wouldn't be long before it's used for totally different purposes. There always has to be a 'cover story' which appeals to the sensibilities of the man on the street, right before some Draconian new law or practise is introduced.

The stronger individuals in communities need to be more cooperative with eachother in dealing with thuggery, instead of locking themselves away in their concrete boxes and not interacting.

The home secretary must be having a laugh. Unless they want more Cynthia Jarrets and Cherry Groces which in turn will lead to more uprisings and more police officers getting killed in the process which will lead to further marginalisation which will lead to more anger and frustration.............

And any African supporting this is absolutely stupid, because it would only be a matter of time before this tactic trickles down to the average law abiding African citizen.

Point.... an excuse to legalize harassment across board.

“There is no harder misfortune in all human history than when the powerful of the earth are not also the first men. Then everything becomes false and awry and monstrous. And when they are even the last men and more beast than man, then the value of rabble rises higher and higher and at last the rabble-virtue says: Behold, I alone am virtue.”- S.A.Israel
