london perhapes , and it's a big perhapes would be ready for a black pm in the near future maybe , but a for the rest of britain... FORGET ABOUT IT there are still people in britain that have never seen a black person in real life... let alone spoken to one... their only angle of a balck person is coloured by what they see on news bulletins or in the 'oh so fair media'.

reality is 9/10 a state of mind ....iam black, and ethereal

I think the point is obvious. Here in the U.S., we could barely wrap our heads around the idea that an African could be President. But not only that, an African who attended a "Black" Nationalist Church, a man who "choose" to be "Black", and a man who is married to an African woman and is raising African children.

We had the same beliefs that many of our brothers and sisters in the U.K. had. That we would only get the most white-washed of all black people to be elected to the highest offices in our country.

That didn't turn out to be true. Barack is a wild-card. Something that neither "Whites" nor "Blacks" expected.

No one claimed Barack spoke bad english or listened to Hip-Hop. I am pretty sure that he does neither. But he is proud to be of African heritage and is a representative from that community.

I never stated that he had to be white acting, but Hakeem gave the impression that if britain were to have a black PM he would be that way. I'm clearly stating the fact that too many black people have a small minded generic idea of how black people should be, and not to act that way is not being black.

I think it is you who has the "narrow" view. Look around you. African Cultures are here and are represented in their many different forms. No one here is calling you "dawg". No one here is using garbage slang like. . ."you know wha i'm sayin'?" You can't even find an African-American forum where Africans use bad english or improper grammar. . .much less an African one.

So when an African voices an opinion that there is a danger that a leader such as Barack could be a sellout. . .it should painfully obvious as to what the point is. That point has nothing to do with his manner of speech but everything to do with his concern for his people.

I am glad you came out into the light instead of hiding behind words. "Son"? "Kid"? "You reason"? I guess that is what is considered to be "street talk".

Whatever. Is this your display of . .non-ignorant language and non-ignorant behavior?

You are the perfect example of the "ignorant", "narrow" slice of African life that you claim to despise.

Thats the problem right there. I get the feeling black people expect a revolution to happen with Obama as president. As if he will solve ALL of our communities plights and turmoil when we as a whole seem hellbent on not changing.

The same thing happened when Margaret Thatcher became the first female PM. Women today still feel she did not do enough for women. The fact that she WAS there, the fact that Obama has made it should be enough incentive for the rest to step forward and achieve their own greatness, but no, the majority excepts a handout.

Lets not forget Americas economy is going through the ringer right now as well.

Nope! Nothing to do with "street talk". When i call you kid or son, i meant the LITERAL meaning of the word. I see you as a child because your logic is so simple....boy!

Great ideas and thoughts are always considered crazy by someone, that is until they are proven to work or be true. Then maybe your mind cannot comprehend the magnitude of my prophecy.

Shame.....i guess your clearly still a child.

What you think you should do is your concern. But fortunately that right is given to other Africans also. The pressure should be on Barack to produce something for African-Americans. And if he does not, the choice for the next election should be painfully clear.

Cowards hide behind words and make accusations that only they are guilty of. I won't even engage in name calling with you. In fact, talking with you for these few posts has made me feel rather dirty. So I must now go and wash the filth from my hands. . .and my mind.

Good day. . .creature.

I actually agree with Prince Hakeem, on his original point some might want to pretend that his comments aint so, but history to date proves otherwise, every single Black person to my knowledge has been exactly the type of BLACK person he discribed.... The only who could come close [and i use the word close advisedly] is Paul Boteng....Black family, Back activist in his younger days, MP, Cabinet minister...but the question is where is he NOW!!!!!?

Ambassidor for South Africa and no longer in Parliment.....We now only have one BLACK person in Cabinet and SHE is not a FULL Cabinet member...and as far as I'm concerned she is black in skin color ONLY!!!

So comparing US politics to the UK there is No way I could ever see the UK doing an Obama it will never ever happen period...People need to remember Kinnock...He lost an election he was winning because this country refused to put a WELSH man as head of this country... Brown will lose because this country DOES not want a Scot as head of an ENGLISH Parliment...and THEY are WHITE!!! so what chance a black man...non!!!!

African heart, African mind
