Girl,
I'm so TIRED!!!
I actually fell asleep before 9pm, only to be woken to my little one's dulcet tones! I missed John Deed!!!!!
I'm persevering with the breast feeding, but I honestly don't think he's getting enough. I've just spent 2 hours feeding him, and Hubby has just given him a bottle which he's polished off. No wonder he's now 9lb (most babies LOSE weight within the first week - mine's gained 10 ozs in as many days!)
But, even though I say so myself, he's absolutely gorgeous. The faces he pulls make me laugh, and the boy's too clever by half. Not surprising, considering he was so overdue. He's probably ready to take his degree now!
How are the other BN babies doing?

Hi Lady Vee
Glad to see jr has a good appetite
my little one is growing. he went from a i cant believe he is alive to a chubby baby with a bit of weight on him.
At the moment he has entered the teething stage, so he gets really miserable irritated and unsettled. Also he is bringing up nuff of his feed. Its like i never seen so much. i got the teething powder teething gel calpol numerous teething rings. he doesnt quite pick up things yet. i have always remember that his development is normal as he was almost 2 months early. but i see he has discovered his hands and he waves it in wonder in front of his face. he is reaching out to try get hold of stuff too. now i can keep him on his playmat for longer as he tries to grab the toys. he is getting there.
but the teething ooh my ears ache from the crying. feel a bit helpless knowing he is in pain. i think the teething gel is suspect it aint working. cant really say about the powder.
he is using his bottle to rub his gums and not really drinking at times. so you knwo i have water at the ready.
other than that he is fine. still waiting for his hair to grow. he had loads when he was born then it went.
when i sit him up on the settee and sit next to him he smiles from ear to ear.
as for breastfeeding....i breastfed exclusively for 2 and half months and then did mix feeds between breast andbottle till he was completely on bottle. i undestand what you mean by statisfied. as his appetite grew he fell asleep breastfeeding so the bottle seemed the best option as i was concerned
good luck!

Oh dear, LD...I feel for you!
Well, one down, only another 27 (I think) to go....!
I'm glad the little one is doing well, considering he was born so early. He was born when he was meant to be, shown by the fact that that he's normal in every way.
Lay off the JD, though....you'll onlyfeel bad in the morning!
I'm waiting for Hubby to come home to take us out. He was supposed to be home by 3pm. No need to wonder why Smudge was so late now, is there?????

Hiya sorry to change the subject a little I just wanted to ask if anyone here suffered from post natal depression and if so how did they get through it and do you think that there was an effect on the baby or child?

I think I had this but didn't have it diagnosed. All I was aware of ishow much of a swing therewas in my emotions on a day to day basis. There seems to be a bit of a stigma attached to it and many women may either ignore or not even realise that this is happening to us. I think this may warrants a thread of it's own because one of the problems we have is talking about what it feels like.

One thing I haven't liked about it is the way it affects us mentally. I didn't like the talk of antidepressants no matter howuseful they are supposed to be but you need to still let the healthcare providers know what's going on for you. Everyone goes through depression of some sort and the reality is that womenwill go through a lot more than men. How early on you recognise and deal with it is what determines whether it beats you or you beat it.

@LadyVee: BabyVee isn't messing is he with that eating. I suppose he's making up for lost time. I think my breast milk isn't enough for Baby Maat anymore but he's started to eat and is teething too. Are you managing to get enough sleep?

@LadyDay: Your little one sounds just like mine with recognising the hands and chewing the bottle more than feeding. He's been handling the teething really well though. I am suprised at how content he is with it. He likes the bonjela after he gets over the initial taste. I use the powder too but he's hardly needed either.

He's 4 months now and growing strong. Herecently started to have 8floz of milk with a little porridge for breakfast. I'm sure he would have carried on too. I don't mind though because there will be times when they are unwell and won't have much of an appetite at all.

my little one is 20 weeks and you have to get him in the right mood to eat alot of food. he only manages 4-5ozs. HV said thats ok for him. he will eat food up untill a certain point
i wish he would drink more and less often. though he can sleep for longer sometimes
i know i will be extremly tired soon as i return to work. i need to choos whether i should do 26hrs or 30hrs.
why do gums hurt later in the day anyway gees.

Geez, my one is managing 4ozs clean...and STILL wants the breast afterwards!

He also flings himself down into position for the breast...he'd be over my shoulder and then he'd shuffle down, then launch himself into my arms and start eating my clothes! He's also discovered his hands, and tries to hold the bottle.

Boy it'stough but if youcan even stay away from the work that will give some rest. I had to force myself not to keep going as normal for a while but lying down awake did something....thinking about thispart seemslike ages ago now.
