Oh yes for sure I do. I love doing her hair, I think it makes for good bonding. I sort out a few people;s Locs too, especially the guys who tend to be a bit lazy regarding their hair care. Either that or they just enjoy being tended too...banana.gif

No, I would'nt dare do it. I don't prefer locks, and I also feel that would be a personal decision for someone to make on their own.

A lot of people use chemicals to relax their young childrens hair without a thought to what those same chemicals may be doing to their children;s health.

I wonder how many of those children made that decision for themselves confused3

it's called being lazy, some parents that have children with "nappy" hair don't always feel like dealing with the mess.

Got my hair did today, there was a lil girl in the shop who had her hair done, she even got it styled. The locs suited her and she was a pretty girl anyway, but i still think thats something for the child to decide when older. How is a 4yr old gonna understand and know what locs is?

Sister, my 4 year old is extremely bright andunderstands perfectly wellthat her hair is natural and beautiful and that it is how African people, like herself, can wear their hair! I'm raising my daughter to love herself, her culture and her people. Locsare just another way we can wear our hair no matter how old we are. It is NOT PERMANENT as some people think it is. I'd rather her wear locs than put chemicals in her hair.

Parents who relax their child's hair, should be shot.

Its funny how parents will feel no way aboutrelaxing their childrens heads.
Lets remember thisIS applying a strong chemical to the skin above your brain.

But the same parents will see it as a disgrace to loc a childs head (orkeep it natural)which involves no harmful chemicals.

Baffles me confused3

AndI really dont agree that it is because they cant deal with natural hair ..
IMO that is just an excuse to hide the fact that they think relaxed/european hair looksand isbetter.
Otherwise they would take the time to learn how to care for black hair rather thanbe so quick to reach for the bottle of harmful chemicals.

I totally agree with you ther Afroboo, you would think I was harming my child by locking her hair. I remember some years ago I was in Pak Cosmetics in Finsbury Park and an African man came up to me and asked me what relaxer would I recommend to use on his daughters hair. I asked him how old she was and guess what the man said!!! ONE AND A HALF!!! I was like, in my mind, is this a wind up, WTF? I told him that she was wayyyyy too young to have a relaxer in her hair but he was adamant that he needed to get it.

We need to wake up.
