I had a book by, Anabel Karmel "The Complete Baby and Toddler Meal Planner" All you need is ice cube trays so yo can freeze a weeks worth in bulk, and a blender. Obviously it's better if you can make it fresh everyday, so your not loosing any vitamins. At the bottom of each recipie there is a tick box next to a smiley face and a sad face so you can remember which recipie your child liked. My son loved spinich and baked bean pie which sounds disgusting but really does taste great. The best thing aboutthe bookis that it uses all unproccessed foods and gets your child into good eating habbits. My son is 10 now and begining to get more fussy, I just resort to different tactics to get his 5 a day down him, mainly by grateingpeppers and various veginto things so he cant detect them.

Good thread.niceone.gif
I am a great believer in home cooking for babies...i hate them pre packed foods, they give me the crips.
Starting with deserts: Apple and Pear pudding. Peal the apple and pear, steam it or boil it with little mineral water untill soft....then just beat it up with a wooden spoon untill its all mashed. You can add a bit of freshly grated nutmeg. Make sure to mash it with some water left over from the boiling or the steam. You don't want it to be too thick or dry. It should be a little "soupy".
Another deserts is justthicker versions of home madesmoothies. These ones are even better becauseyou can play withit the way you want.
As for dinners, well i was raised in the old school ofa child will eat whatever we are eating butsofter versions of it. The key is to mash it up and make sure you don't use too much salt in your food. If you usually season your food with magie cube, ginger, garlic etc, then you can feed your child almost anything the family is eating, but you just mash it up and make it lighter. I know this might sound unorthodox, but i am the youngest of a football team and i have raised many(my nieces and nephews)healthy children this way with so side effect.

@LadyDay: I usually crush or blend the food we eat but recently tried the freezing method. It's been alright so far.
clp)clp)Good suggestions ladies

Good thread....don't even think there's a blender in my childrens house.....there is a microwave though oven
This is one area where modern technology makes us lazy, for good advice speak to the poor and needy. Where it used to be freshly squeezed orange juice for a runny now every little thing todays independent mother runs for a babylon perscriptions!
Fresh potatoes mashed and mixed with fish is very good. Though in this day and age, for many households this would now be considered a christmas treat. The first hurdle in doing anything is you have to want to do it first
Their knives and their guns could not hold me, their drinks and their drugs could not control me, their education could not school me, their religion could not fool me, their women could never tempt me
their politicians could never rent me, but the babylon daughter still got my pikney!
