Does anyone know where you can get these stories of Kiriku the baby in a African village.. who saves his village from a evil sorceress...no religion involved/ good morals.. intelligent script/ excellentanimation. Fed up of giving my money to Amazon. Free download wouldnt go amiss though..
Cant praise it enough. It was so powerful watching an allAfrican cartoon as an adult/let aloneif our children was watching these things routinely instead of Ben10 on cartoon network/ we would have ready made soldiers and scientists by default.
Had to share this with all village parents/ if its old news then my apologies...
What a cartoon..!!

Thanks bredder/ sister. I see they all have computer game too..makes a change from the Incredibles.
I onlywatched it tonight curtesy of a cousin/ and loved the storyline/ the subtle lessons to be learned.. man I cant wait to show my child this..and the rest of my family...
Just seeing an all black cartoon in atraditional rural settingsetting with no Lion King American Hill Billy Texas sounding accents was refreshing. Trouble is we need about 2000 more titles like this. If you know anymore African orientated animations let me know please..
Bless.

Funnily enough I bought this film today
You can get it from www.moviemail-online.co.uk- they do loads of good african films I bought a few hard to get ones from there.
I love this film too- It was actually made by a white man from Luxembourg, and he created a fantastic film. Would show it to my kids if I had some lol

I loved this film! and my chile loves watching it over and over again. It is the kind of media I would appreciate seeing in Blockbusters and Cinemas everywhere in our modern day.
It is refreshing to see a theme with such heritage and grounding, that as a parent with "media sense" I can not find any fault with the motifs within the film. It sets such challenge to the mind it makes me want to write a thesis on it ~ just for fun

Hi my daughter loves Kirikou so much, i can't understand why it wasn't available in the cinema for our kids to go see, It was released in Italy and did very well. If your intrested you can get great print outs from the film for your kids to colour in. Go on line and look for kids print outs, you should come across a site that lists loads of films, mainly disney ones but Kirikou is in the list. My daughter loved colouring them in and sticking them up on the wall for everyone to see.
If only there were more films like this for our children!

I think this is the one that I saw. I saw it in my French class a few years ago. I loved it.

There is a sequel btw... Kirikou and the beast...
Amazon.co.uk: Kirikou and the Wild Beast [2005] (REGION 1) (NTSC): Emile Abossolo-M'Bo, Robert Liensol, Pascal Nzonzi, Marie-Philomeme Nga, Pierre-Ndoffe Sarr, Awa Sene Sarr, Marthe N'Dome, Emilie Gaydu, Gwenael Sommier, Jean Bediebe, Youssou N'Dour,
Came out this year by the looks of it... bah ... the release dates are for diffrent regions, might have been 2005.
Kirikou's Grandfather says that the story of Kirikou and The Witch was too short, so he proceeds to explain more about Kirikou's accomplishments. We find out how little boy became a gardener, a detective, a maker of pottery, a merchant, a traveler and a doctor. Written by Uros Setina
