Thread is about plastic surgery and its effects on society in general.
My mom always watches those make over programs, one in particular called -The Swan- and watching thesepeople who feel down in themselves for who they are and what they have been through growing up go through a HUGE change in a few weeks shocked me. Most of them have children and it made me think of its impact on society in general. They were mostlywomenand they no longer looked like their children. In fact they found that the looks they gave to theirchildren actually held them back in life and sought to change them becoming completely diffrentin the process. Ifyou didn't know before hand the sameperson could be two diffrent people.
Its far from the looks they are changing its their whole life that recives a turn around and in some episodes it wass obivious that their marriges would suffer as a result. One black woman in particular was so stubborn and problematic she was probably ugly as a result of her inner uglyness but came out looking like lil kim (literally) and it was obvious her family life went out the window as soon as she saw herself in the mirror. Some were the down to earth motherly types andseemed like nice people but came out looking like hollywood showstresses as though they literally fashioned themfrom celebrities. Some areas of America are so bad its likesomething out of Area 51 and people carry on like its normal.
Made me wonder... What long term effectdoes this type of thing have on society?
Notjust people finding themselves unattractive, thinking some cosmetic adaptation would help rather than resolving inner problems but the effect long and short term that it has on their families, children in particular.
What effect would it have on a young child to have their mom come home looking completely diffrent, at the same time saying in a way thats anything but subtle that the looks the child has inherited were bad traits of a self she'd rather forget. Or having the surgery and having a child at another time who then looks totally diffrent to the parent. From breast implants to face lifts, allto keep looking an age they should have left behind a long time ago, mentally and emotionally. Its like having a forever young society with no one wanting the responcibilty of being an elder, forever wanting to look good for other people as though another persons impression of them means so much they're prepared to undergo extencive surgery to keep a lie to themselves going... at all costs.
Had to change this one up, sounded like I was bashing women when a lot of men are getting face lifts and trying to hide/deny their age as well.

Am not 100% opposed to plastic surgery per se,lets face it,if you were born with your nose on the side of your cheek, you would want to do something about it just to bring yourself in line with conventional facial symmetry.
But I too have concerns about this aesthetic which is being thrust upon people Black and White in terms of what is considered beautiful etc.
And ive seen some of these make-over shows and thought, some operated onguy or girl is gonna meet a man or woman and its total deception.Coz their face has changed, teeth fixed etc and any future children they have will bear no resemblance to them...in fact if the person who has had surgery keeps quiet about it ,their partner could be in for a few surprises when they have children.
I'm all for enhancing your God givens, but when its out and out fraud,it leaves a bad taste in your mouth....and it just is kinda sad that so many buckle under the pressure to comform,to a Whitey ideal....especially white folks.
I aint asking for nothing, just open the door and i\'ll take it myself-James Brown.

If you are talking about falseness we couldinclude make-up, wigs, nails; literally everything that you put on your skin because it's not 'natural'.
A person could be known for dressing 'down', go for a make-over and suddenly start to dress smart - what - that's a huge impact on children/society? He/she shouldn't do that because they'd be 'unrecognisable'?
Ugly people have children. Beautiful people have surgery. Go figure.
I don't think it's about denying your age or deception as such - it's about looking good.
If you ask someone whoose had 'work' done their age they would deny/admit just as much as a person who did not. In fact I'd thought they would most likely say their age so that people would go 'Oh my God you don't look anything like that!'' lol.
Everything's vanity.
