One of the classes in the school where i work has had supply teachers for a few months. It now has a permanant teacher, but a coupld of the mothers were like "oh, its's a man".
So would anybody on here mind if their child had a male teacher at junior leel (year 3-6 thats ages 7-11 for anyone without kids!!)

That right there MB is one of the reasons why this country has a problem with young people...this society has marginalised men to the point where they are seen as a THREAT instead of the leaders they should be...

I have no problems with it.
He's in a strict school now (I moved him from his previous one), and I feel he's benefited from having a male teacher.

I personally have nothing against male teachers. But then i have no children of my own. I ask because, as I stated in my opening post, judging from the reactions of some of the mothers, i thought that maybe it might be an issue among some parents. I would have thought that after months of disruption with supply teachers and other staff covering, the parents would have been relieved that their children finally had some stability. But the reactio i heard was "oh, its a man" as though it were a problem.
So i thought i would ask the opinion of some folks on here who are parents. I know there is generally no problem at secondary level, but i know a few people may have an "issue" at primary level.

I can remember taking my youngest daughter to her first school day, and getting definite vibes (like, WTF are you doing here?)from both parents and teachers. They had to put up with me for another year, so I guess they eventually got used to it....but that was ten years ago.
The staffing of primary schools seems to me an almost entirely female domain, and I cannot see how that is helpful to either boys or girls. Understandable, maybe - but not helpful.

At first I didn't see what relevance his sex hasconfused3but in light of some of the bad press and the lack of apparent space in jail for aaaall these paedophiles they've lost control over....I'd have to think again. Maybe that's what the other mothers considered.
Now that you mention it, I have noticed that most of the teachers at our children school are female. Very biased although I wonder if that's voluntarily hmmmm....
Anyway, I've voted No as long as my children are comfortable with it because if there is even a sniff of any of that foolishness going on I want to know about it and I want them to be able to tell meabout it:X. To be straight I think this of male and female. Just becausethe femalesaren't promoted doesn't mean they aren't there. It's a crazy time we're in!

You've posted a topic similar to this before, so i was just wondering, why do you care? Isnt the primary school staff room supposed to be a feminist environment anyway? Enjoy it!

my previous topic was that more male role models were needed in a school environment. This topi is about whether or not parents mind their children having a male teacher as i had noticed a somewhat negaive/uncomfortable reaction from a couple of mothers.
I care because i care about our children and their future and because the vast majority of my day is spent around children who have no male role models.
And no, the primary school classroom is not a femenist environment. If you have nothing to contribute, why do you care about replying?!
Thanks for all CONSTRUCTIVE replies so far.
PS mods i can;t see the result of the poll!!
