Arrest after MySpace house party

The house is being professionally cleaned

A 17-year-old girl has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage in connection with a house party which left a family home wrecked.

About 200 youngsters damaged Alan and Elaine Bell's home after the party was advertised on the website MySpace.

Guests are alleged to have urinated on a wedding dress and stolen jewellery from the house near Chester-le-Street, County Durham on Easter Monday.
Durham Police said the girl had been questioned and released on police bail.

'Horrible memories'
Mr and Mrs Bell returned on Tuesday morning to find a trail of destruction at their £230,000 house in Chipchase Court. Mrs Bell, 48, said the couple may have to move out of the house.

She said: "It's absolutely unbelievable. It was a house I'd left at 10am on Monday morning in an immaculate state. "It's like a house rape - every single room's trashed. Every carpet is burned, they've been stamping out cigarettes on them.

"They urinated in the wardrobes, pulled my clothes out of the wardrobes and stubbed cigarettes out on them. The beds are burnt. There's food and messages all over the walls.

"At this point in time I might not be able to live in the house again - I might have to move because there are so many horrible memories now."
A Durham Police spokesman said some people had travelled hundreds of miles to be at the party.

Using this story as a vehicle to spark discussion, if this was your child could you ever forgive her actions? Speaking personally I think it take a lot not to permenantly disown her forever.....

Come now, it ended in tragedy in this case but how many of us have thrown parties when our parents were away?confused3 It's almost expected!

Only thing here seems to be the silly girls put in online and had people THEY DON'T KNOW in their house... Never done that. Never seen that done! Very stupid.

And even in this case K. It's a terrible mistake and they must punish severly but unforgiveable? I don't think so. Unforgiveable is murder, rape, kiddy fiddling etc etc

Watcher...Ok the bit thats not in this report was that she INVITED people to come and WRECK the house to emulate some TV show where the same thing happened.... Sorry but I have to be hand on heart honest I would struggle to forgive this action..especially the bit where people urinate on my wedding garms, nah sah...she is hardly a pickney... If she was say 12,13 or 14 well you could argue niavety but come on....this child is nearly of age...

This makes no sense. There is more to this story. I'll await further developments.

i read another report about this, and apparently the girl claims that someone hacked her myspace page and publicised the party (i'd claim that too)

if it were my parents, presuming i would still be alive after the ass whupping, i would be allowed to have all the parties i wanted ... at my bedsit hostel where i would be living after being flung out on my proverbial!

Watcher: i agree it appears like madeness.. I could only assume that either this child has some issue with the parents and decided to get some payback.... Or she has some serious personality disorder going on...

MB..I don't believe the Hacking bit...because it doesn't explain how they got her address, and the time of the party... and even if that were so..two hundred people turn up at your house do you let them in if no party was gwarning? No I think she is trying to cover her arse...

the way i read it, the girl was taking advantage of her parents absence (as you do!) and decided to have a party. somehow, someone (probably an ex friend) got hold of the details about it, got into her myspace page and made it public knowledge.

that being said, i'm not sure i would believe that version of events. About to reveal something kinda "personal" here, but it reminds me of the time my sister was caught shop lifting with her friends when she should have been at saturday school. She claimed she hadn;t been stealing and that she was just the look out. i'm assuming the thinking behind it was to save herself from a severer ass whupping than whatshe otherwise may have received. In later years it occured to me that ALL her friends probably claimed the same thing lol

this being the 21st century, a kid gets in trouble, then can just blame it on their web page being hacked!!

i have to say, if i were a teenager and with my penchant for revenge, i can;t honestly say i wouldn;t do the same to someone i didn;t like lol smoking-devil

hmmm...It's always been the case that the house bought for my children to grow up in is theirs to destroy....the fact that it's other people who have come in and destroyed it is a different ball game!

Come on. How many of you have boufgt someone home for a one pop when the other half has been away. At least clean up the evidence afterwards

Come on these people vomited everywhere, urinated in every wardrobe, took out the woman's clothes and destroyed them..... and mash up every single in the house... So it begs the question where was this child when people were wrecking the house? If things got out of control, why not phone the police?

Sorry but the way things played it, reading between the lines it appears that people got license to do what they did....and it looks like my girl was letting i happen... if not would she be forwarding the names of the people who destroyed HER home?

Sorry but for me its not just the act..its the BETRAYAL... As a family you fight together and stand together...not stand with others AGAINST your family...... Call me harsh, but I would tell to ADOPT some new parents...
