Well I would say it depends on how much you like the parents of the children invited....

You could put in a few noisy toys like whistles, so the child goes home screaching down the parents ears.

Seriously though it is only two year olds why the need? A slice of birthday cake should be sufficient.

Play games and have small toys as the prize, make sure every child goes home with a prize. for those who don't win a game give them a prize for being well behaved or acts of kindness, politness, helping to tidy up ect.

Whatever you put in the bag is going to be cheap and cheerful and broke by the time they get home.

How about a colouring book/writing pad, pencils you can even get really cheap calculators from £ shops toddlers love pushing buttons.

I had some luck with Party shop as they have prepacked goodie bags / loot bags...and they have some unisex, boys or girls ones; and they were a hit with the kids. See below website or visit the shop.

This party bag thing is another one of those 'traditions' we have conditioned ourselves into, which adds unnecessary expense to what can be a costly affair at best.
Look whatever you put in those things, will be of interest for all of 2 minutes. Certainly by the time the child get's home with the sweets (if you are evil enough to put any of those mind altering concoctions in) and cake all eaten the bag is sure to be dashed aside.
I wouldn't sweat about it too much if I were you. If the party experience itself is exciting and stimulating enough, a piece of cake wrapped up in a colourful napkin should be plenty. Unless of course one is more conerned with 'impressing' the parents, than giving the children a nice experience....lol

Can i add a word of caution, buying 'cheap' sweets which usually contain lots of E numbers, will not make you popular with parents of children who go home hyperactive.... Certainly if it was me i'd be more than a little pissed if my child was given too many unhealthy sweets to eat..

ooohh I love orgainising birthday parties. Because it was my sons first birthday I wanted it to be special so I had personalised chocolates for all the children who attended. I also put a packet of those mini pringles, balloons, noise maker, slice of cake, packet of haribos and blow bubbles. It was cheap becuase i bought most of the supplies from the pound shop. I also bought alot of the prizes from the pound shop too. Isn't expensive either, but it does depend on how many children you are inviting. I made sure that every child attended left with a prize. I didn't want them feeling left out.

With regards to the personalised chocolates some of the parents were a little envious but I didn't care. It's not about making the parents jealous its about making it fun for everyone even though they'd wish they thought of the idea. The parents had a good time too because I had games for them.

I didn't make the whole chicken and rice thing either. I really didn't feel like cooking anything. I ordered large pizza for the adults and just put some chips and nuggets in the oven for the kids. There was no alcohol, just fruit juice. Another good thing to do before buying food is ask the parents if the child has any allergies to anything. So you don't waste your money buying things they can't eat

I served the kiddy food in little happy meal boxes that i ordered and the kids loved them. I even put a cheap toy in the box. It really didn't cost that much to organise, but it was fun doing everything. This year I want to do a theme, like a jungle theme or a fancy dress party. Yes he will only be two but this is my only child and I think birthday's are special so I will put the effort in every year. It's only once a year any way. I have so many ideas for this one.

I know one of my friends was in a liittle jelous, but i didn't really care. she asked me where i got the chocolates from, because she wanted them for her party. I did actually miss her childs party I got stuck with some things i had to do. She was really mad. I don't think because i turned up late but becuase i missed her fancy trimmings.

All i say is have fun organising.
