Default sibling rivalry - 05-12-07, 07:20 PM

do all children go through sibling rivalry when a newborn arrives
my prince is 2 and will soon become big brother to a newborn
everyone keeps telling me that once his sibling arrives the competition for attention and acting uo will start.

i dont think he will really

surely not all children feel threatened by someone else sharing their space?

opinions from parents of 2 or more children will be much appreciated

Think outside of the box...Think in spirit

Act as if it were impossible to fail!!!

I have a 13 month old and a 4 year old and i was told exactly the same thing when i was pregnant with my second daughter.

I was told all kinds of things, even down to me needing to watch my 3 year old with the baby cause she could be violet towards her because of jealousy but i have to say i found the complete opposite. My eldest loved her little sister from day one, constantly kissing her, wanting to help me change her nappy, feed her etc.

I think its how you handle it, i made sure i included her whenever i could and now she is like her second mum!
