All the following pieces are dedicated to the beautiful spirit of black womanhood. These works represent a small part of the many ways in which I have been inspired by that epitome of 'womanhood' - The Black Woman. It is also my way of saying 'Black woman you have captured my heart in a way that no others could' - Thank you

TRIBUTE TO BLACK WOMAN
Karl J Christopher copyright December 2003

She was not made from a rib or as an after thought;
Or for the male’s basic pleasure, or to make his an easy lot
She was not made to take second place in man’s so-called ‘domain’
Or to supply the ‘fun and sport’ in the Playa’s childish game
She was not made to disrespect with violence and abuse
To cast aside without a thought once she has ‘served her use’

No, these are not the reasons why God put upon this land
The wonderful creation we call ‘Beautiful Black Woman’
She was made to walk with honour, with style, grace and with pride
Whether her path is one she takes alone or with her King right by her side
She was made to love and cherish, worthy of deep respect
When speaking of Black Woman’s Needs, don’t speak about ‘neglect’

Her strength is nothing to be feared, on it you can depend
Be she Mother, Provider, Partner or Wife, or Loyal Trusted Friend
She was made with charm and beauty, intellect and wit
And there is wisdom behind that pout and those divine sexy hips

Brothers, there is no shame at all, in admiring Black Woman’s charms
To look at her with ‘wishful thoughts’ in of itself is no harm
But don’t let physical reactions cause you to forget
Black Woman was made for more than one thing, and is the best you’ll ever get!

THE ESSENTIAL WOMAN
Karl J Christopher copyright 1998

I seek the Essential Woman, the one beneath the mask
Not the 'Painted Beauty' or 'Dolled Up Babe' but the one that's made to last
I seek the Essential Woman, for the love I have to share
Not just a mere accessory to look upon and stare

I seek the Essential Woman, a natural Ebony Beauty
Not a 'floozy' or a 'bimbo' or some right 'hoity-toity'
I seek the Essential Woman, with thoughts and with a mind
Not the 'money' or 'flash car' merchant that one so easily finds

I seek the 'Essential Woman', that is a credit to her race
That is proud of what she stands for, and walks around with grace
I seek the Essential Woman, with a spirit strong and free
Free of the negative conditioning, that puts the 'I' before the 'We'

I seek the Essential Woman, so we could work as one
To share a love that lasts, not here today and gone
I seek the Essential Woman, a friend and not a foe
Someone to walk beside me, not to follow on in tow

I seek the Essential Woman, for it is she who has the key
To set alive the Man Supreme, the one that I call 'Me'
I seek the Essential Woman, a partner to the end
In harmony forever, my Lover and my Friend

TOUCH MY MIND
Karl J Christopher copyright 1998

Touch my mind with words of meaning, if you respect me true
Show me the beauty of your soul, the real and special you
Unveil to me your Essential Self, the substance not the form
If you want the "Woman Real", then show to me the "Man"

No boyish tricks will work with me, don't try to play my mind
With childish adolescence, no treasures will you find
But a man of true maturity, a King, not just a Prince
Will gain the heart of this Nubian Queen, for she is Heaven sent

My power is no threat to you, I do not seek to fight
But just for us to work as one, and be guided by the "light"
The special light of destiny that has set for us a place
To live as we were meant to be, rebuilding our great race

A love supreme for us will grow, as long as we are true
To Divine Law that guides our way and shows us what to do
So do not seek those mindless pleasures, the ones that last one night
Only the Man, and not the boy, will get the "gift of life"

So touch my mind before my body and see what will unfold
A man that respects his Nubian Queen will have treasures to behold
Touch my spirit with your own, for this will be the key
For unlocking all my goodness, to get the best of me

LOVE’S SWEET HARMONY
Karl J Christopher copyright May 2001

With you I feel no fear of things that may or may not be
For something says my heart is safe in the love you give to me
I feel a divine hand at work, so our destiny is sure
No need for doubts or uncertainty with a love that is secure

Each level that unveils itself amazes and astounds
This LOVE of ours flows so deep and seems to know no bounds
A ‘gift from God’ or just ‘pure luck’, I wondered which at first
But wonder not, no need for luck, when God has set the course

Now hand in hand we make our way along this ‘New-Love-Road’,
Step by step with weightless hearts we head towards our goal
Nurturing a LOVE SUPREME, with much respect and care
So much to see, so much to do in the life we are to share

When man and woman join as ONE they give life to God’s plan
With hearts entwined and the gift of love, all trials they will withstand
It’s true! the future holds no fears for a LOVE that’s meant to be
Two hearts, one dream and oh such joy in LOVE’S SWEET HARMONY

Thank you for the comments and as you both say, praise for our women is well deserved.

That's deep bro, I'm feeling them poems big style. At a time when I as a woman is feeling down and discouraged, they have given me comfort. It's nice to know that we are appreciated, and for u to express it in such a way that makes people sit up and take notice. What I find with many guys is that they feel love for us, but don't know how to show it or say it. Let's hope more guys will be upfront with their feelings.

Definitely do not let ur talents go to waste, create a book of poems and try and get them published. I would love to read more of ur work.

@ Facetygal

Thank you so much for your kind words and it does indeed give me joy to think that my words can be uplifting, for that is what I wish. I wanted to remind our fine black sisters that dispite all the negative stuff they hear about themselves that the majorityof black men(no matter what the statistics try to tell you) love and appreciate them. In fact we men need reminding sometimes just what a treasure we have in our women, otherwise we are in danger of buying into the propaganda which tries to convince us that our women are not worthy or that we are not worthy of them.

Black men and women can have awesome relationships with each other (indeed we do more than people realise). If I can, in even a small way, use the gifts that God has given me to spread that word, then my purpose on this earth would have been well worth it. Our future (black people) ultimately lies inhow well we relate to each other and the strength of the unions we make with each other. I refuse to accept that black men and women are incapable of having strong, committed andsustainable relationships.

Peace

My sister
You are most welcome to send these to your friends. The more the merrier. I want black women all over to know that, despite what those who fight against the bond between the black man and woman say or do, black men on the whole love our black women. I may have writted these but I know I am not alone in the sentiments they portray. I hope as well as letting black women know how special they are, it inspires black other men to express what I know is in the heart (of the True Black Man) - Love for his African Queen.

I feel honoured that you wish to share them with your friends .

Thank you for your kind comments

A WOMAN NEEDS
Karl J Christopher copyright April 2002

A woman needs Truth (and honesty), the ingredients of trust
A woman needs Romance to bloom, not just your animal lust
A woman needs Understanding it shows her that you care
A woman needs Empathy, it’s a thing that lovers share

A woman needs Love with meaning, not just words to impress
A woman needs Obligation, a hundred percent - nothing less
A woman needs Verity, come correct and keep it real
A woman needs Emotion, let her know what you truly feel

A woman needs Kindness, with deeds that touch the heart
A woman needs Intent, there is a purpose from the start
A woman needs Softness, like the tenderness of your touch
A woman needs Sincerity, you could never give too much

If you really love a woman you must show it in your deeds
And give to her the things that matter - the things a woman needs
