The Unfulfilled Dream of a Strong Coloured Woman
My Dream is the unfulfilled dream of a strong coloured woman.
I dream of a moment when, as the coloured person preaches
The white man does stop and listen in awe.
A dream where the struggles of our race are over
And our oppressors do give freedom.
A dream of a life so full of happiness and joy
Hurt and pain can never be felt again.
A dream of a heart so warm with love
It does cry for the fulfilment it receives from that love.
A dream where my dream is not unfulfilled
And my struggles are lifted and my shoulders liberated
My soul liberated, my,
Opinion liberated, my
Voice liberated, my,
Dream liberated.
A dream of my unfulfilled dream - realising itself
And making my world as clear and existent as my dream.
My dream that once was an unfulfilled dream
Became my dream fulfilled in the moment when I,
As a strong coloured woman
Spoke of my unfulfilled dream
And the white man did stop and listen in awe.
