Locusts ambush the aura around thee
As the child jumps rope under the apple tree
Her laughter of joy echoes among us
Spreading its silken lather of peace
Only a child can create such a serene canvas
The innocence that shines its vibrant light
Yet society continues to doubt them
Hurting the little ones that we love most
What happened to “We Are the Children?�
That song has played and faded
No drum roll
We have become a dead race
Living to chase mental blocks from yesterday
Coming to the realization that we have deceived ourselves
For we are all the children of tomorrow
