Salaam.

Don't know if this is the right place for this grizzly thread but I'm just following on from Shemsi en Tehuti's thread about the 'Scorpion and the Frog'.

I came across this creature when reading some popular science books on evolution vs creationism. I was struck immediately by the parallels betweenthe relationship of the wasp and its victim and that of Europe and Africa:

The superfamily Ichneumonoidea (consisting of two families: the Ichneumonidae and the Braconidae) has been estimated to contain well over 80,000 different species......Ichneumon wasps lay their eggs in living insects and spiders. The female will find a suitable victim, often a butterfly larva or caterpillar, and stab it with the long pointy piece on her posteriorand inject a drug toparalyse it,when the victim is paralysed the wasp injects an egg or eggs. Theegg hatches inside and begins consumingthe host's living tissue, eating only the non essential organs first (and so keeping the host alive) until the very end when it consumes the heart, lungs and intestines, finally emerging from the destroyed carcass as an adult.

It's like the movie "Alien," only the predators can fly.

Well white people can fly, and they are wasps (White Anglo Saxon Protestants).

What's also reallydisturbing is that this insect is revered by many Western biologists for its ruthless efficiency inexploiting the hostcreature to guarantee the success of its off-spring.
