Why….
Why is our politics only for the rich and connected
And why when they get elected they quickly disappear
And why come election time they quickly remember us
Yes…why are the small fish being fried for corruption
When it’s a known fact the big fish call the shots
Why are they busy hunting the drug couriers
When they are only mules for the big drug barons
Why are the people dying in Mount Elgon
While the government looks on
And harasses the newspaper men
The Mungiki marches on relentless
The government looks on…as though it is breathless
Why are our legislators salaries so high
Yet they brawl…carry out national business at a crawl
Please tell me why…please tell me why…
Why do we harass our Muslim brothers
All in the name of fighting terrorism
Why do we humiliate our women
Rape and abuse them…yet they are life
Why do we make a big fuss about the Hummer
When we have issues of greater importance
Why did we neglect Kisoi Munyao and Bildad Kaggia
Only to lavish them when they were dead
Why is the police force reactionary
Waiting for thugs to strike before boosting security
Why do the old folks cling on to power
When it is evident they are now a spent force
Please tell me why…please tell me why…
